Azteca Mexican Restaurants

Terrible experience. We were discriminated against. Over 10 mins before we received chips and one 1 type of salsa where as others got it immediately and 3 different types. Waitress took 10-15 mins to come to our table. We had to get our own silverware, ask for napkins, drinks, extra salsa two to three times. They went to the other tables quite often. Our fajitas tasted like they were from a crockpot and were even wet like that, not sizzling in a pan. Others received the after dinner free dessert, we did not. The waitress sat warm cheese dip in front of the baby in a high chair. Told us we need to move stuff on the table to make room for one fajitas, we shared. She didn’t like that we had a table protector in front of our bay and said we need to clear that. Very rude until it came time to bring the check. Will not be returning. Also, booths needs replacing.

Have to eat here everytime we visit family in the Charlotte area! Food is so good with large portions and a great atmosphere. Easy to talk and visit with friends or family over a meal.

Regular tacos tasted like something we could have easily made at home, The arroz con pollo was terrible no other way to put it. Over priced. Bad food. Good service. I don’t recommended it

Always great. This is a family favorite for us, from the fajitas to the Pollo con Crema. It’s all good. The atmosphere is good there’s authentic food, authentic atmosphere, and fast service. It’s a great Mexican place to eat in the Matthews area. This place has been here for over 25 years and there’s a reason why it still stands strong.

This Mexican Restaurant is Truly A Gem .
Welcoming Atmosphere, Great Service & Most importantly the food here is amazing! Not over priced for a restaurant that offers live music & good food portions.
Im not sure what was my favorite part of eating at this restaurant
Im stuck between the fresh guacamole cart served on a traditional mortar and the fresh handmade tortillas being prepared in the dinning area .
I can honestly recommend this restaurant to anybody very kid friendly as well they have the largest menu making it impossible to be picky.
What I ordered : the breaded fish fillet plate with hand made tortillas, a tamarind agua fresca , fresh guacamole 🥑 & for dessert a flan 🍮

I grew up coming to this restaurant and I'm glad that after returning to it for the first time in 12 years that it still tastes the same!

Some of the best Mexican food in the Charlotte region. I used to always get the fajitas and they still looked as a good as ever.

I got the chimichanga and it was exactly like I remember. Crispy, cheesey and tasty!

They also have a huge range of more authentic Mexican dishes, not just Americanized classics!

The service and food was excellent. Never had to ask for anything as they were always there checking on your needs. We also had a 4 year old birthday girl that they made feel very special with the hat, singing and pictures taken. It was a good time with good people and excellent swrvice.

I'm changing my review. Been coming here 15+ years but recently prices have gone up and food quality down. No more NY Strips. Two Top Shelf margaritas $30! Two Pina Colada's $30(not top shelf) $60 for four drinks in this type of restaurant is crazy. Steak Torero(Ribeye) Medium was practically burnt. $30.75. Side of sour cream $1.95. The homemade guacamole is the best. Fresh made in front of you, but the guacamole that came w/ my burrito was brown. $126./ $152 w/tip, For a Small guacamole, Two meals and four alcoholic drinks was very disappointing when the food wasn't good.

Great atmosphere spaces and out side tables for nice days. Food is amazing! First the hot sauce is made in house to perfect flavor. Chips always hot,and fresh. Tortillas made fresh and always on point. Service is about 90% good but you always have that one person.
