Our favorite place in Matthews/Charlotte. Not just favorite Mexican place, favorite restaurant period. For decades now. Always keeping the menu fresh while keeping the core menu and favorites. You will not go wrong choosing Monterrey.

I had a great experience here. I love their lunch menu and the portion sizes are perfect. My waiter was excellent and attentive. The restaurant was very clean. I really appreciated the large menu selection.

This was the worst Mexican food ever no taste at all no sauce WORST will never order again, ground beef with no taste at all even forgot to put salt the the cheese use in the enchilada was the worst, the sauce no taste the cook who made it should be fired they even forgot the rice and beans the meal was supposed to have Good riddance!!!!

First visit (09/2025): VERY clean. Food was excellent. Specials are worth having. However, no substitutes. Service was lacking. She never came back to check, no extra napkins, no soda refill or to deliver our bill. We would come back, but not until the 'sewer' smell is fixed and gone. It was difficult to eat smelling sewer.

I’ve tried to order on grubhub twice now in the past 6 months and both times once the driver got there, the restaurant cancelled and now I have to wait another hour for food from somewhere else. What is up with that?

I LOVE this Hispanic food place! The food always comes hot. The chips and salsa always on point. The staff are super friendly! And the inside of the restaurant is beautiful! This place is always our go to for great Hispanic food!!
