I was unfortunately underwhelmed. This is a place I had higher expectations for trying out. The menu is not very extensive at all. I wish there was more of a variety. We were not even offered dessert, not sure if they even have that. The food was nothing special either. The tacos were generous though I will say. The tables in the front entry are awkward. It is not set up for couples, it looks more like for groups. The patio was the nicest spot. Our server was friendly, but I think maybe they needed more staff. Our appetizer came out with our dinner. Disappointed in that. This restaurant needs some improvements on menu, seating arrangements, decor and additional staffing.

What happened?!
The Portrait Gallery USED to be an excellent spot for small plates, atmosphere and decor - the decor remains but the new menu is a weird choice - almost exclusively burgers and tacos, while having Moo and Brew on their right, and White Duck Tacos on their left - there's no longer a reason to go to the Gallery.
Service was a lot slower than in the past. Unsure if this was a one off, but we were forgotten about for 20 minutes - hoping it improves soon!

My wife and I weren't prepared to be blown away by an amazing/quiet environment with great music when our date plans were ruined by a power outage at the movie theater. This place was a breath of fresh air and absolutely worth popping in for some good food, drink and enjoyment. We will absolutely be back! (Try the crack fries and spicy mango margaritas)

Haven’t been here in several months, stopped by for a quick small plates snack. To my surprise there was a different menu more causal than expected more bar like food. Not sure what changed but the menu items offered wasn’t enjoyable. I will miss small plates, Sunday brunch and mimosa flights.

For Matthews this is a pretty decent spot. Cool vibes. The front room seems cool; and the bar looked awesome but this is not where we sat. The other options are back room and patio. Back room is not a cool spot. It’s where the door to the kitchen is so you are probably going to smell like fried food. The patio is nicer, but service st the patio was a bit slower. The menu choices seemed small but a good mix. The tacos we ordered were very good.

So much better before the menu changed. They called it a "re-brand" but in actuality they just dumbed the menu down to a few mid taco's and a few mid burgers. The interior is so nice and the menu doesn't match the atmosphere anymore. Service and atmosphere is still good but the food has nose dived.

So sad to see the tapas menu leave. Please bring it back. This was such a unique gem for Matthews that I always raved about to friends and family visiting. So disappointing to lose the charm and yummy food for another tacos/burger option

Stopped in the evening of July 4th as many other local spots were closed. We hadn’t been here since the menu changed. They were understaffed for the holiday and the restaurant was packed.
The food was good enough, the decor was the same as it was before the menu changed. However, what set this dinner apart was the service. One of the owners was working and hustling! It is tough to keep a smile on your face when you are “in the weeds”. But everyone working here did just that.
Did we wait a while for drinks? Yep. But it was to be expected. Food came out rather quickly considering how busy they were. My chicken taco salad was delish.
Rooting for this business and hoping they expand on their menu in the months to come.

Finally!! A place in Matthews that makes a good Non-sugary drink ?!! The food was good.. I would go back and try the burgers..
but so far the best one was the birria tacos! You can ask for corn tortillas but they said the flour one is the best for that type of taco.
I loved the atmosphere!!! no kids ?
