Golden Corral Buffet & Grill

So, I left this same review on Google, but I feel it needs to be seen in more places! Golden Corral in Monroe, NC, thank you for giving us that taste that most Golden Corrals have lost! Wife and I stopped in for lunch on a work trip. Honestly we had lost all hope in Golden Corrals, but something made me choose this one today. Wife and I were very surprised when we first came in contact with the cashier, and she actually had a pleasant attitude. Next, we grabbed our plates and headed to the buffet. The food had just been brought out. Normally an issue at these stores, the food sits there too long, so I figured it was just stroke of luck with them just bringing food out. So anyway, we got our first plates, and OH MY GOD, that first bite took us back to what Golden Corral was in the 90s!! This food was AMAZING!! Including the mashed potatoes that another comment said tasted bad. I counted at least 3 times they brought fresh food out of the back. We were there on a hour lunch. So yes, they kept food fresh! All the food was great! And our server….on point with everything. We didnt have one empty glass, and dirty plates didnt stay on the table long at all, she was also very friendly! I dont know whats with all the comments bashing this place, but our experience today was beyond what we hoped for. THIS is the way all Golden Corral stores need to be!

Food was just awful. Mashed potatoes tasted like dirt, marshmallows tasted like feet. Staff was friendly and quick

The food and selection was overall good. Some of the items could be a bit more fresh. Our waitress was nice and attentive.

Our family had a really good experience here. All of the food was good, the salad bar was very fresh, our grandkids loved all the dessert choices, and everyone loved the steaks!
We will be planning another visit.

Golden Corral isn't the same place as used to be. Less options, higher prices and not so well maintained environment. Very common to find dirty planes in the stack... the kitchen utensils tosed around and dropped in the sink, given a not really good idea on what is going on behind the scenes. The waitress was good, polite and efficient.

The Golden Corral in Matthews has really set the bar high. I've gone to the one at Rock Hill & this one at Monroe, but they fall short.

I didn't enjoy the atmosphere as much. The servers were nice, but the one attending to us was not engaging. There was actually an older server not assigned to us who was very engaging every time she walked by. I had a stack of 3 empty plates by the time they were picked up & the place was not even busy. The food was ok, but not great, & they seem to have less of a variety of food & dessert compared to their Matthews location.

I came to this location by pure chance. The Matthews location was closed due to plumbing issues, so we decided to try the Monroe location because it was closer. I'd probably not go there by choice again.

The food was alright. They just didn't fill things up when they ran out. The girl that rang us up in the beginning was rude and unfriendly. She was not knowledgeable at all. Nor was she helpful in answering any questions. She was also rushing customers in front of the entire restaurant to get out. The only reason I gave 3 stars on service was because the lady who brought us refills and grabbed empty plates was awesome. She was very friendly and on top of her job plus some.

The Toilet Drips and the Floor was Wet. I went to Pull my pants up and it was damp. The floor by the Buffet bar was Wet. I told the worker and she looked at me like i was crazy. My husband said the Men's Bathroom was fine.

We’ve come to this location on occasion for the last six months. We thought we’d found a good GC location, but after today, we’re concerned that it’s on the downturn.

We walked in at about 3:50 - in time for the early bird senior meal. Instead of paying about $11 each, we paid $16 each—according to the cashier we were in between time—and she wouldn’t charge us for our drinks. On our way to the table, I pulled out my phone and it showed 3:59 (the price goes up at 4:00). When we looked at the receipt, it showed 4:05—so their computer clock is about 6-8 minutes fast.

Not a good start.

Several food bays were empty, although what we ate tasted good. Steaks did not start being cooked at 4:00.

After about three bites, the fire alarm started sounding. As I looked around, everyone was acting as if it was perfectly normal, so I determined that we didn’t need to rush outside.

We were there about 75 minutes and this alarm rang out 8-10 times.

I saw the manager, but he never visited tables to apologize to customers.

I feel for the servers. Our waitress was great,but I can’t imagine having to put up with the loud alarming all day!

To say the least, our meal was neither peaceful nor pleasant.

I’m not sure what’s going on with this location.

My advice is to find another restaurant.

Food ain't what it use to be. I miss when they use to bring fresh bread to the table. Now the bread is at the bar and not so fresh. I went around 3pm. I guess only lunch or dinner crowds matter at this location cause the food was not stocked and I felt like I was eating left overs from the lunch crowd. It really is ashame I paid full price for this. Next time I'm in the area I will just grab a burger it's cheaper. There is a great caption D' fish right down the road. Service was good but not great.

Food was fresh and delicious. Service was great. Love Golden carrol with great selections of food and dessert.
