You can tell a place is special when the aroma hits you before you even step inside, and when people are happily digging into their takeout before leaving. Hathaways Chicken-n-Biscuits definitely gives that vibe.

I love discovering longtime mom-and-pop restaurants because they feel like hidden treasures. This spot has that classic southern grandmother’s kitchen energy—warm, cozy, and full of heart. It is southern comfort food at its very best.

The restaurant is clearly a local favorite, with steady customers coming in and out. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. The cashier noticed I was new and took the time to guide me through the menu, suggesting the Businessman, which I gladly ordered.

Every bite showed care and attention. The tea and lemonade were perfectly sweet, and the fried chicken was crispy with just the right seasoning. The sides were excellent as well, especially the green beans which had a nice firm texture, not mushy like at other places. And the best part is how affordable it all was, under ten dollars.

Even as a first-time visitor, I felt completely at home. This will definitely not be my last visit. If you are in Monroe and craving warm hospitality and delicious southern food, Hathaways is a must-visit.

I hadn’t ate in this restaurant in quite a while. I was extremely disappointed in the food. Okra, potato wedges were under cooked the slaw looked day old.The chicken was dry. We did get livers and they were good as usual. Won’t be back. After covid the restaurant are just aren’t cutting it.

Always pleased to eat here. Food is fresh and service is always pleasant and attentive.

We paid 29.00 for two meals that were so nasty we didn’t seven eat them. The food had no salt and no taste to it at all. Very disappointed in our Sunday dinner there. We had tenders and popcorn chicken and waited over 30’mins for our food with no other customers in the restaurant waiting on food. Very much gone down hill since we ate there several weeks ago.

Stopped by for lunch today. While my order was correct, the food was disappointing — the chicken just wasn’t appetizing. I brought it back, and after waiting about 15 minutes and asking about the delay, I was told everything was being cooked fresh. Unfortunately, the whole process ended up taking over 30 minutes, adding about a 2 hour delay to my day. They did apologize and offered a half-gallon of iced tea for the inconvenience.

You pay for fresh and they give you older chicken that has been put back in hot grease to make you think that they just cooked it
