We were about 40 ladies and we ordered at the counter and the food came out very fast as each order was done. They were prepared for us....the food was very good and the portions were large. I had fried shrimp, french fries, hush puppies and Cole slaw with my order....

I have eaten at this restaurant probably 5 times. The food is just meh. The star of the show is the bakery. Their cakes and pies are outstanding. If you are looking for a cake for a specia occasion, I recommend you try them out.

I went for lunch today and had the country fried steak , mashed potatoes and pintos. The food came out quickly but one bite told me grandma never set foot in the kitchen. The pintos were unseasoned and from a can, the mashed potatoes were instant and the fried steak came from a frozen patty. The hush puppies too came out of a frozen bag.

At first impressions from outside, you wouldn't think much of it. But you go inside and try this truly southern cuisine. It'll take you back to Grandma's cooking. The barbeque is vinegary, and the slaw is creamy, blending with barbeque sauce for an amazing Carolina barbeque rush. The flounder is flakey and soft, breaded to perfection. From a steak and shrimp dish to a classic southern platter, you can quench any craving. And don't get me started on the banana pudding and dessert case lined with cakes and pies. Who needs Cracker Barrel when you have Mac's Fish and Chicken right here.

What a great place to eat some great food and enjoy Football !!! Our daughter recommended this place after eating there last year. We started off with the Pimento Cheese appetizer , which was out of this world good ! After basically licking the jar clean, we ordered the Burn Ends Mac and the Buffalo Chicken Mac. What a treat !!! Both of these dishes were tremendous !! Great taste with such a different flavor. Max took GREAT care of us and washed everything down with some good sweet tea. Totally recommend Daddy Mac's and will be going out of my way to get back for another meal.

We have visited Mac's on several occasions for lunch. Except for our first visit with everything perfect, we've struggled to find the magic. Did they change the chef or management, or did we align with the universe on a particularly stellar day? Hmm. I rate this place a 3-star diner with daily specials, regular items, and some baked goods designed to fill you up and not break the bank. After several visits, however, our experience with overcooked food prepped in advance and left to warm under heat lamps (nothing worse than flabby French fries or squishy okra), mushy fish fried with too much oil left in the filet, and stale buns served with our sandwiches left us bewildered. Frustrating. On a side note, the lack of cultural diversity in their client-facing staff is noticeable. While polite and efficient, they appear all white, young, and female even though their clientele clearly is not, nor is the demographics of Monroe. Why is this I wonder? Maybe things will improve or maybe this is the way it is. Until then my "Give 'em a whirl" meter has stopped spinning.

Ordered flounder, it was so dry, did not even taste like flounder, we heard shan on wixie bragging about the flounder and country cooking, very disappointed, sqash frozen not fresh , yams from a can , I call this false advertising, it's not country cooking , not what I call country cooking anyway. Sorry to have to post this review, but don't say it if it's not true, people around here no the difference. Especially when it comes to fish.
