AVOID AT ALL COST. THEY ARE SCAMMING AND LIKELY IN FINANCIAL TROUBLE. Lake Norman Catering replying that they have fully refunded us is not true. We have not received any funds from them. They also do not respond to our e-mails, however, it appears they have time to respond to our reviews.
The owner is likely in financial trouble and cannot refund us. He even dissolved his company without telling us. STAY AWAY FROM HIM.

As the father of the groom, I feel obligated to share this experience so that no other couple goes through what our son and daughter-in-law did.
Less than 24 hours before the wedding, he canceled without warning. He claims that he had health issues and that he canceled his other events, in that case he should have told my son and daughter-in-law well in advance that he could not commit to their event and immediately refunded them.
At this point, it’s looking likely that my son and daughter-in-law will have to take this to court just to recover the money he stole from them. This is not just unprofessional — it is fraudulent behavior. He took thousands of dollars for services he never intended to deliver and left a bride and groom scrambling the day before their wedding.
I cannot warn people strongly enough: do not trust this business. Protect yourself, your family, and your event by choosing someone with integrity. This company does not deserve anyone’s trust. Lake Norman Catering replying that they have fully refunded my son and daughter-in-law is a BIG FAT LIE. They have not received any funds from them. They also do not respond to e-mails, however, it appears they have time to respond to reviews.

I’m writing this as the sister of the bride because I witnessed firsthand how this caterer nearly ruined what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my sister’s life. We were literally in the middle of getting ready for her wedding rehearsal when my sister got a call from her venue, The Magnolia Room. The venue was calling to say that there were no bartenders, no staff, and possibly not even any catering because the vendors told them they weren’t coming — they hadn’t been paid. You can imagine the shock, panic, and heartbreak my sister felt getting this news the day before her wedding, while she’s trying to enjoy what should have been a joyful moment with her family and friends. She checked her email and found a message from the caterer where he casually said that he would “no longer be able to take care of the wedding tomorrow due to health issues.” That was it. No phone call, no warning — just an email less than 24 hours before the wedding. He even sent her a list of the vendors he had never paid, despite the fact that my sister had paid him months ago, in full. Because of his complete failure and dishonesty, my sister had to come out of pocket again — at the last minute — to pay for services she had already paid him for. I watched her, exhausted, in tears, calling around to salvage her own wedding because of this man’s utter lack of responsibility. My sister still has not received her money despite his promise of refunding her within 14 days after the wedding. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. It was heartbreaking to watch my sister go through this — the stress, the expense, the betrayal — all because someone took her money, made empty promises, and walked away. Do not trust this company with your event.
I’m writing this as the brother of the bride, and honestly, it’s hard to put into words the disappointment and frustration our entire family has felt because of Alexander. He made promise after promise to my sister — that everything would be taken care of for her wedding day — and in the end, he delivered absolutely nothing. He promised to provide her a full refund within 14 days, and it has almost a month and he still hasn´t refunded her. Alexander is a liar! Stay away!
I’m writing this as the brother-in-law of the bride, because I saw firsthand how this caterer nearly ruined my sister-in-law’s wedding and is now actively lying about what happened. He was paid years in advance to provide catering, bartenders, rentals, staff, and a day-of coordinator for a 200-guest wedding. Less than 24 hours before the wedding, he sent an email to the wedding coordinator saying he could no longer handle the event due to a “health emergency,” and included a list of vendors he was supposed to hire but NEVER paid so they all backed out, even though he took my sister-in-law’s money well in advance.
I was with my sister-in-law when the coordinator gave her the distressed call. We tried reaching out to all of the vendors to try and resolve the problem directly with them only to find out that all of them had not heard from Lake Norman Catering for weeks and never received payment or confirmation for the event. I can’t even begin to explain all of the stress this put on my sister-in-law.
Now the owner of Lake Norman Catering is online saying he’s gone “above and beyond” — but he hasn’t even done the bare minimum by providing an immediate refund. The bride’s parents were able to recover their money by disputing it with the bank however, there is still no proof of refund to my sister-in-law´s account.
He now claims he’s been in the hospital and that’s why he “can’t complete the refund” — but somehow he’s had plenty of time and energy to respond to every negative review within minutes, while ignoring our actual emails and concerns. He’s not in recovery — he’s in damage control, and he’s twisting the truth to protect his reputation.
This isn’t someone who made a mistake and is trying to make it right — it’s someone who took money, didn’t deliver, and is now pretending to be the victim. If you're even thinking of hiring this person, don’t. He is not honest and not trustworthy.
I’m also attaching proof of their interactions for any of those interested.
i would do no stars if possible

I’m writing this as my sister’s Maid of Honor and her sister, because what this caterer did to her — and to our entire family — is something I will never forget, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Her wedding rehearsal should have been a happy, relaxed time. Friends and family flew in from Mexico, Spain, and Denmark to celebrate with her. But instead of enjoying those moments, my sister’s rehearsal was completely ruined. Right in the middle of getting ready, she got a call from her venue, The Magnolia Room, telling her there were no bartenders, no staff, and maybe no catering at all — because none of the vendors had been paid.
You can’t imagine the shock and heartbreak she felt hearing that less than 24 hours before her wedding.
Shortly after, she found an email from the caterer casually saying he wouldn’t be able to handle her wedding “due to health reasons.” No phone call, no warning — just an email. And to make matters worse, he attached a list of all the vendors he had never paid — despite the fact my sister had paid him in full years and months ago.
Instead of soaking in her rehearsal, spending time with loved ones, and enjoying the moment, she had to spend the day on the phone trying to find a new caterer, bartender, rentals, and coordinator for 200 guests… on 4th of July weekend.
I can’t express how heartbreaking it was to watch my sister go through this — the stress, the tears, the exhaustion, and the hurt of being betrayed like this. What should have been the happiest time of her life became pure chaos because this man took her money and left her to fix the mess he created.
If you’re reading this and considering this company, please don’t. There are so many good, honest vendors out there. This is not one of them.
As the father of the bride, I feel obligated to share this experience so that no other family goes through what we did. We hired this caterer back in 2023 to provide services for my daughter’s July 5th, 2025 wedding, and from the very beginning, he made endless promises that he would handle everything — catering, rentals (cutlery, linens), bartenders, servers, and a day-of coordinator — for her 200-guest wedding.
Even as recently as five days before the wedding, despite obvious red flags 2 weeks before the wedding— the coordinator disappearing, unauthorized charges on my card, not turning in insurance information to the venue, he told her not to worry about a thing. He reassured her everything was taken care of and there was no reason for concern.
That was an outright lie. Less than 24 hours before the wedding, he canceled without warning or explanation. We later discovered that despite being paid in full months in advance, he had never paid a single subcontractor. He simply kept the money for himself. He claims that he had health issues and that he canceled his other events, in that case he should have told my daughter well in advance that he could not commit to her event and immediately refunded her.
At the last minute, I had to step in and help my daughter pay out of pocket to find emergency replacements to keep her wedding from being completely ruined. I am currently disputing my portion of the payment with my bank, but my daughter, who made her payments through her foreign bank account, still has not received any proof that her money was properly received, refunded, or accounted for. There has been no communication, no accountability, and certainly no professionalism.
At this point, it’s looking likely that my daughter will have to take this to court just to recover the money he stole from her. This is not just unprofessional — it is fraudulent behavior. He took thousands of dollars for services he never intended to deliver and left a bride and her family scrambling the day before her wedding.

Absolutely do not trust this company with your event, especially something as important as your wedding. Less than 24 hours before my wedding, Alexander Cruz canceled on us after having been paid mon

Alexander, Aissa, and the rest of their staff at Lake Norman Catering did an outstanding job of preparing, presenting, and serving the catering for our 2025 Graduation Party. I have used them in the past for other events and they are my go to caterer. They do an excellent job at both small and big events, drop off or full service.
I’m disappointed to say the least. Had an event confirmed almost 15 weeks in advance for a small graduation party gathering of 16 people. LNC communication was only by email and was really about confirming the date and providing me with a link to the catering menu. I could never get a hold of anyone by phone and no one returned calls. The answering service was apologetic and confirmed my messages were getting through and didn’t know why I wasn’t getting any calls back. I’m still baffled at the whole thing. I ended up having to make alternative last minute arrangements to accommodate all my guests since we were within 48 hours of the event and still had not received any returned calls. Not cool.
Everything from LKN Catering was amazing and beyond our expectations! Your chef’s pride in his work really shone through and all of the guests at my daughter’s Sweet 16 raved about the food and desserts!!! Additionally, the servers and bartender were so accommodating and friendly to everyone. 15 stars and we will highly recommend your services. My absolute favorite was the beef medallions, and the grazing table was the BEST!! - With sincere gratitude
My husband and I cannot say enough good things about Lake Norman Catering. They went above and beyond for our wedding. This says so much because finding vendors for a wedding considered on the smaller side (50 guests) was proving to be very difficult. We initially reached out for details on pricing and all that was included. Once we decided on an option I communicated with Gina to ensure I understood everything and we had a plan.
As we got closer to the wedding we scheduled an evening to taste the food and provide feedback. During this meeting we found out they would not only provide food and table décor, but they could also make the cake we wanted along with cupcakes. As if this wasn't enough, Gina also agreed to help with day of coordination. She was present for our quick rehearsal the evening before our wedding and was the first to be at our venue day of.
We received so many compliments on how great the food was, but also how professional, organized and kind their staff was.
As we reflected on our wedding we know the effort Alexander, Gina and their staff put into helping make our day the best possible. We are beyond thankful for genuine people that truly care about what they do!
I just had my wedding this past weekend and Lake Norman catering was great! Chef Alexander and Gina were very communicative and easy to work with! I had a few last minute changes to my menu and they were extremely accommodating. The food at my wedding tasted just like it did during the tasting. I would definitely work with them again and recommend them for any events!
