A nice idea, but mediocre overpriced food. Tried to have a birthday lunch with a group, and was charged $25 fee because we brought in a small cake for after our meal. No one even cut or served the cake. Just charged the $25 "penalty fee." Not very impressed especially after I found a hair in my burger. Definitely won't be returning.

Came Sunday (march 10th) at 2pm and they stated kitchen already closed and don’t know if it will reopen today. Really Sunday that early and you don’t know if you reopen? In summer when we sat outside without any heads up just closed our umbrella while we eating and just let us fry while we finish eating. No good customer service second time already and we used to love Blue Parrot …

Toucan’s has become one of our go-to spots around Lake Norman. The food is always good and the service has been excellent every time.Their menu has something for everyone and they execute each item well. From grilled or fried seafood, to American classics like burgers and cheesesteaks, to south of the boarder fare, they have never disappointed.Last night, for national margarita day, I had the carnitas tacos and my wife had the grilled seafood trio. The Toucan’s margaritas were on-point with plenty of Patron Silver. You won’t find a better one for the money and we’ve tried hard.My tacos were very good and the side were better than what we experience at all the local Mexican restaurants.My wife’s seafood trio, seared scallops, mahi mahi, and shrimp we all cooked perfectly and her plate was piled high. 5 large scallops, 5 jumbo shrimp, and a healthy filet of mahi mahi along with 3 sides. WOW!Top it off with the consistently excellent service that makes our kids feel special and us feel at home. This place is a gem no mater the time of year.Kid-friendliness: Good kids menu with all the standards. Ages 8 and down. They always treat our kids special and allow them to be kids. The collection of large tiki statues are always a hit and the claw machines occasionally give up a prize as well.

Came to Toucan's tonight...walked into an absolutely lovely experience and had an amazing server, Kristen! The atmosphere of this restaurant is great - I usually don't even care about stuff like that, but it's so relaxing and pretty! I can't wait to come in again over the summer to be on the patio. Kristen made sure we had refills and were enjoying our time and food. She was so pleasant and friendly, the epitome of good service!!Our food and service was top-notch. Thank you Kristen and Toucan's!!

The food was so flavorful and the service was great. The fried plantains were perfect! My one "complaint" was that my fish was slightly overcooked, but it was still good. It was nice sitting outside with a nice view of Lake Norman. Thank you!
This is typical bar food. Everything is fried. Very very basic dishes. We've been there multiple times because it's right on the water and everyone wants to meet up there. Service is hot and miss but on average, it's ok at best - nothing to write home about. If you're looking to eat on the water, ok. If you're looking for good food, I'd recommend going elsewhere.
