My kids took me there for my Birthday March 30th and I have eat there many times in my life and was the first time since the pandemic and I was terribly disappointed. Service was very slow,food was cold and very pricey now ?

Visiting from out of state, stumbled upon this restaurant and just could not believe it was name SANITARY???? I've gotta say, that's the strangest, weirdest name I've ever heard of for a restaurant in my life! When I hear the word sanitary, I think of maxi pads, bleach, household cleaners, etc. This is a restaurant! What on earth were the owners thinking?? The food was mediocre, nothing fancy, nothing stood out. Not terrible, not great.

The food was delicious and the wait staff were courteous.Parking: Had to get a ticket for parking, but the restaurant validated the ticket, so the parking was free.
Lovely setting on the water. Been here several times over the years and it seems the quality of the food has diminished.

The food was great and the portions were larger than expected. Our waiter was wonderful with helping me find things that wouldn't contain shrimp and letting me know the hushpuppies are safe for me b/c they're done in different oil. I loved that we were right on the water. We'll definitely return when we're in the area.

Historic staple in town. It is not a fancy hip place, it is a steady constant that has stood the test of time. Go there for the experience and the history and the food will speak for itself. The staff will treat you like a friend.
We come down from New Jersey to visit family and The Sanitary is a must during every visit.There is always a wait time but it's always worth it.The Staff is Friendly and Food is always Hot and Fresh.

I heard great things about the seafood in Morehead city. So we decided to try the Sanitary restaurant. The positives of our experience were the sunset outside is beautiful, neat bar, and liked the complimentary hush puppies. However I wasn’t too expressed with the food. The clam chowder was pretty good. The shrimp I order was fresh but the overall there was no flavor just tasted like it was steamed in water and nothing was added.
