With the current rating of 4.4 stars, I was expecting a decent experience. We walked in and it smelled amazing but that’s where the good times end. There were 3 of us, we each got water and 2 of us got tea. The water had mold/mildew floating in it and the tea was weak. When we told the server about the water, her response was very carefree and she gave the illusion that the situation was normal. I got the chopped pork plate and it was dry as can be and had very little flavor. My friend got the sliced brisket, it was also very dry and he said the smokey flavor was only on the outside, the inside didn’t have any of that flavor. His wife got a salad of some sort, she said it was decent but couldn’t enjoy it because of the moldy water situation tainting her thoughts. We will not be going back to this place

This restaurant has went down hill in a hurry. We used to love going here. We went tonight and menus were very sticky, the place had a stinch, my daughters buns for her bbq sandwich were burnt, bbq cold, the fried okra tasted as though it had been cooked 30 mins earlier and then reheated and the jalapeño cheese grits tasted like someone dropped a whole shaker of salt in them. One person with us sent their food back and didn’t want anything else, they still tried to charge for it, then took it off but charged me for a craft beer when I got a yuengling. Disappointed to say the least. I wouldn’t recommend eating here at all.

First, the bad:
I was extremely disappointment in their hush puppies though. They were overcooked, leaving too much of a crusty outside and, even worse...they were WAY too sweet!! I am really disappointment in the hush puppies here. I want a blend of sweet and salty. I don't want sugar to be the only flavor dimension to my hush puppies.
The hush puppies are the only reason I gave 3 stars. If we get those fixed I will immediately update to 5 stars. Hush puppies are CRITICAL for me for any barbeque restaurant.
Also, I the green beans were only okay, they were too mushy. but I am bery picky about my green beans. The slaw a as meh.
Next, the AMAZING!!!
Their okra is freaking PHENOMENAL!!! HOLY CRAP THEIR OKRA IS THE BEST. I could eat it all day. If their hush puppies matches their okra, golly it'd be an entire fill fledged meal for an the whole weekend!
Their BRISCUIT is also freaking INSANELY good and needs NO sauce. The dry rub is wonderful.
Their ribs are thick and meaty and delicious, I got with the dry rub and just lightly add a little sauce from the side.
Their half chicken and chicken drumsticks are also friggen GREAT.
Overall, everything here is incredible...but the hush puppies need some work. I hope they get then less sugary and more savory and more uniformly cooked instead of having that hard shell around them.
It was AMAZING!!!! Plates were only $12-14, food was incredible, staff was nice. The Nanner Pudding was the BEST I've ever had from a resturant! We WILL be back!!!

We have been several times over the years. Last night was Terrible! First of all we are a group of 5 older women. Walking on the Totally greasy dirty floor was a challenge. It was like that from the door to the table. We are usually sat at 2 4 top tables pulled together. Last night we were sat at a large folding table. Waited while they pulled apart the dirty stacked chairs for us to use. Apparently these tables near the window aren't used often. There was a ton of old food and trash on floor. I think there were 3 other tables, so no they weren't busy. 3 of us got sweet tea 2 ordered drinks from the bar. After waiting for ever for the bar drinks. I figured they were just waiting out there for pickup. Our waitress was too young to serve them. Very nice bar tender was confused at first, she had never been given the order. Not one of us was pleased with our food. The brisket we had was cut very thick and just as dry and tough as could be. Ribs dried out on the bone. My hush puppies were pretty good! When we were carefully heading towards the door. A woman was speaking to a man who had come out from the back. As we walked by she was complaining about the slick floors. I heard him tell her he had put down some extra rugs to help. I said as we walked by, some degreaser is what you need. The woman came up to us in the parking lot and said, he had told her it was moisture making them slick. She held up a napkin she had run across the floor. She said I showed him that was grease not water. He just walked away. I don't think we will ever be back. I can't believe how much it has been run down

Then comes the service, which you’d swear was ran on a stopwatch, the waitresses show up exactly as much as needed and exactly when they are needed. The food comes out quickly and wonderfully cooked. And the food, one of, if not the best, bbq places in Burke county

My husband and I are new to Morganton and decided to give this place a try! And we’re so glad we did. They weren’t busy at all for a Saturday at lunch time, which surprised me. I got the brisket, smoked wings and barbecue with homemade chips and baked beans. My husband got the barbecue, half a chicken and chicken legs, with fried okra and mac and cheese. Everything was delicious and the portions were HUGE! The brisket was so tender and good both plain and with the sauce! As an eastern NC native I will say the eastern NC sauce they had was a little more spicy than I like but was still good.
The prices were reasonable for the amount of food, and we had a great waitress. I knocked off one point because as other reviews have mentioned, the floors are really slippery! I’m not sure if it’s grease or what but we cautiously walked in and out so we didn’t fall lol but we’d look forward to eating there again!

We went to boulevard barbecue yesterday (July 12). We had a server named Kennedy. We cannot say enough wonderful things about this young lady. Our youngest granddaughter has down syndrome and the interaction with Kennedy left this grandmas heart very happy. Some people are uncomfortable with special needs children but Kennedy treated her like a member of her own family. She made our dinner so special. And the food was delicious as always.
We've been here several times and had a great experience. This evening we decided to order take out. We ordered the banana pudding which costs $5.00 each. The serving in the container was just a spoon full. Not even worth $.50! Bananas aren't that expensive. They need to at least fill the container that we paid for!

I know when it is best to take myself out of a situation and just eat the cost. My waitress seemed like a nice young lady. I ate about a half my salad and decided to take the rest of it home. When I was moving the salad into the go box I found hairs at the bottom of the plate but I was in the military and I've eaten worse. She doesn't come back for a while so I'll get up and go to the bar to pay I left a tip on the table in cash and when I went back to the table my to-go box is gone I went back to the bartender and said My to go box is gone. She goes to check if the waitress had thrown it away and yes the waitress had throwing it away. Knowing that I have anger issues I decided it is best for me to take my self out of the situation even though the bartender offered to make me a half salad to go. Now here's the problem I'm standing at the bar in a baby blue fishing shirt and a white hat talking with the bartender and a waitress and my waitress had to walk right behind me to go back to the kitchen where she threw away the salad and of course kept my tip. So I've decided that it's probably not a good idea to go eat there anymore. You have a nice day.

The food was good! I had the ribs with the dry rub,, fries, and okra. The sauces were less than mediocre. Every great BBQ restaurant joint should serve collard greens and they don’t offer them, and have at least one good bbq sauces. They had a selection of them, but not one of the 5 I had was worth a dang. I would have given the food a higher rating if the sauce had not been so lackluster.
The floors were very greasy. I’m talking, I would be surprised if someone hadn’t fallen. It was like an ice rink in there. For god sakes, they could have done us all a favor and thrown some salt on the floor to add some traction. In between the bar and the dining room is a balcony looking out over the parking lot with 3 big glass doors. There was a door screen and other random trash lying on the floor with a piece of a beer box. In addition, the glass doors were nasty. This area was disgusting. It makes me wonder how nasty the kitchen is. If they don’t care to clean up where the patrons can see, what in the world does the kitchen look like? It doesn’t have to be fancy, but it needs to be clean.
The food was slow. The server was very nice, but she needed to return to the table after about 2 minutes to check on us and see if we needed anything and how everything was. I finally got up to go find her after patiently waiting long enough. She was very responsive to my request. With that being said, all ribs and chicken/wings plates should be served with a plate or basket for the bones.
