I tried ordering a Vegan Slice off the menu and the kind waitress let me know that for their vegan slices, they just scrape the dairy cheese off a premade pie and sprinkle vegan cheese on top - gross!

Absolutely atrocious behavior by their staff & if you have kids DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. 1st- Our Greek salad that is suppose to have feta cheese (which it did) but also had a few pieces of goat cheese in it and when we said we couldn’t eat it and asked if it could be removed from the bill- the manager (I assume) lost her mind & came storming out with a bag of cheese from the kitchen saying “THIS is what it is..FETA” with the worst attitude I’ve ever seen in an establishment. First…We didn’t say there wasn’t feta in the salad, because there was…but there were absolutely pieces of goat cheese that may have accidentally made it into the salad…It’s not out of the realm of possibility.
But she caused the biggest scene, yelling at us that there is NO way it’s goat cheese. Like calm down lady- maybe some accidentally got in there, no big deal but we can’t eat it.
On top of that there was clay animation (The PJ’s I think it’s called based on a google search) playing in their tv above the bar that was so disgusting talking about PORN, making PORNAGRAPHY and all kinds of vile stuff. It was so bad that we told our kids to keep their head the other way and don’t look at the tv- that should have been our first clue to just leave, that part is on us.

The kitchen staff will come stomping out of the back to scream at you if you dare make them aware of accidentally putting on the wrong ingredient. (Goat cheese instead of feta cheese.. which is VERY clearly different in taste.
There's no mistaking it.. out entire table AND waitress agreed it was goat cheese)
Accidents happen, but apparently she is perfect and would never make such mistake... in her perfection, she actually took the cold refrigerated food used to cook customers meals out to the front of the house (unsanitary) just to try to prove a point.
Also... they play p*or* graphic tv shows in a building full of children? This entire place is a trashy mess.

We like Moondog Pizza. It has been quite awhile since last time we were there. This time it was for lunch & we got a large, what they call margarita pizza with added pepperoni. We we had 3 draft craft beers. We like their beer selection although its not huge but a good selection. We got no dessert or appetizers. With tip we spent $70 & brought 1/2 of the large pizza to enjoy another day. It was a New York style pizza & that is what I grew up eating. It had buffalo cheese & it was not overly generous. That kind of cheese is pricey so I wasn't too surprised. We will go again but probably choose a different pizza. The bathrooms were acceptable clean. They don't have much of a dessert selection so we walked up the street to the book store & got Sumatra coffee and chocolate brownies both of which were very good! We enjoyed ourselves.

Whether it's a casual dinner with my family or one of their fun events with Just2Guys Productios, the experience is always amazing. The food is beyond incredible—I'm a huge fan of their hand-tossed pizzas, and their appetizers are to die for. You can really taste the fresh, local ingredients they use in every bite.
What really sets Moondog apart is the atmosphere. It's not just a place to eat; it's a place to gather and make memories. I’ve attended countless events here and Moondog has always been a central part of the Morganton community.
The owners and staff are so friendly and welcoming; they make you feel like you're part of the family. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with fantastic food and a true sense of community, this is it!

Let me start with the fact that this is my all time favorite place for pizza. My family has been coming to Moondog Pizza since well before you moved to this new location. I ALWAYS look forward to coming here for a meal. Also, I tried to put this comment on a private msg to the management but there is no website which would allow me to do so.
My wife and I had dinner this evening and we each ordered a 14 in pizza; her’s a supreme, and mine a pepperoni with extra cheese and extra sauce. (Your marinara sauce is the BEST!). There was a misunderstanding with my order and it came out without pepperoni. So the staff politely took it back. It returned in less than 10 min, reheated, with pepperoni. Unfortunately, when you reheat cooked pizza, the cheese becomes dry and not pleasant. Also, my wife’s pizza had more sauce than mine, ( ordered with extra sauce) did. I confirmed with your very pleasant staff that my pizza was indeed made with extra sauce.
Looking at some of your recent responses, you may advise that I should have requested a new pizza. However, I would suggest to you that an establishment such as yours should know when a new pizza should be recooked. I expect that most patrons do not want to send food back even if it is sub par. People who appreciate the places they patronize are not likely to criticize their food.

My wife and I went hiking nearby at Harper creek, and decided to get a bite to eat on the way home.
Pizza was the deciding factor, and Moondog had the highest ratings nearby.
We got the specialty pizza that you can pick your own toppings, we went with ricotta, pepperoni, sausage, garlic, and mushrooms.
Final thoughts?
If we lived closer (currently in Rock Hill, SC) this would be our go to!
