We dine at this restaurant every time we visit Morganton. Always great food and well prepared dishes. I had one of the best wood fired pizzas last night.

Could not locate this place...maybe closed down??
I have dined at Root and Vine several times now. The 1st time was a few months ago. The ribeye was absolutely delicious. Great flavor. It was very large and covered half of my platter. The fries took up the remaining half. It was a bit pricey at $43, however I didn't mind paying it because it was so good and the servicewasgreat. Definitely a 4 star review. I brought my family tne next time and ordered the same dish. This time it was a bit disappointing because the steak was smaller and the fries were different and there was less of them. I know steak size can vary, so I didn't say anything about it. No excuse for the portion of fries. The third time I thought I would try something else. The porkchop was pretty good. Now tonight was the forth time and I wanted to celebrate my birthday there. I decided to give the ribeye another chance. Surely it would be great like the 1st time. Maybe the second time was a fluke. Well it came out with a terrible spicy sauce on it which I didn't notice it listed on the menu. At any rate, the size of it was even smaller than the second one as well as a small portion of fries that were not good and were warm not hot! I wasn't happy. The hostess took my plate back and scrapped the sauce off, but left some on my plate. In doing so the steak came back with no flavor or seasoning. I suppose that green sauce was to add flavor. Thing is, it was great the first time without it. I was very disappointed. Our waitress was nice enough, but fell short in her service and checking on us. Yes it was a busy Saturday night, but she did check in with other tables a lot more often. I'm going to have to give them a break and go elsewhere. I'm afraid to see the size of my next steak. I felt the meal wasn't worth $120 this time. This is a long review. I tend to get carried away when I'm not satisfied.

Very cool place! Food was great and our waitress, Maddie, could not have been nicer!
We visited the area last weekend. My husband got a pizza, he said it was pretty good. I got the steak. Very fatty but tasty. Wasn’t worth $43!
I ordered a second glass of wine with dinner, we were half way through and still hadn’t got. She stopped by to see how we were doing. I told her to cancel the wine. It wasn’t even busy.
Chairs inside were very uncomfortable. Pretty spot to sit outside though.

As always great food and attentive staff. Much larger new location however needs work on the atmosphere.

Great atmosphere. We chose to sit inside, outside patio dining was available. PEI Mussels in Curry sauce were delicious. Hubby had pizza from their brick oven. Home made Italian sausage was really good. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Overall an excellent restaurant.
Dietary restrictions: Lots of Vegetarian and Gluten Free options.

Coming here, I had expectations of good food. What I ended up having far exceeded my expectations. I live in the Charlotte area but plan to make a trip back out to Morganton solely for this food! It's definitely worth checking out, you won't be disappointed.

Menu and food meet expectations. The flavor and quality of the food was good. I had the wedge and margherita pizza. The pizza was cooked too perfection. The wedge was the size of a slice of pie, so it did leave me wanting more lettuce, but toppings and dressing were excellent. I suggest doubling the size of the wedge and charging a dollar or two more to cover the cost. My daughter enjoyed the steak. Cooked to perfection, generous size, and tasty. When we're in the area again, I'll look forward to enjoying another meal.

In town for a hiking trip and enjoyed a wonderful dinner here. Had been a few years ago at their previous location and enjoyed it, so figured we'd give it another try. Good choice.
Service was outstanding (shout out to Noelle) and food was excellent. Falafel appetizer was crispy and tasty, pizza had great crust, and drinks (Bullet Dodger Martini) were on point.
Highly recommended if you are in Morganton.

Looking for a hometown feel and comfort scene while traveling...not disappointed. "Puttanesca pizza on point". Very impressed with higher end menu but reasonably priced. Also, special shout out to Ryker who provided excellent service and recommendations. I hope you education land you exactly where you want to be (after backpacking Europe) ??

My dad and I stopped by here last week when I was visiting town. The service was awesome and everyone was super nice and helpful. We ending up taking a while eating/hanging out just because we liked the atmosphere so much. The new location has lots of great outdoor/indoor seating. Thanks for the great meal!!
