Recently learned of the existence of a 'ground steak' sandwich which is apparently unique to Surry Co. I like sloppy joes so I had to give this a whirl. It was really good. Simple, comfort food. My brother in law nailed it.....'It was really good that combo slaw, onion, tomato, mayo hits just right'..... and he's right. I'm usually not a slaw guy but it works here.Homemade Oreo ice cream $3. Plus dogs got some treats from the waitress and cook. We love it!

Stopped to compare their cheeseburger to O’Dell’s. It was excellent. The slaw was slightly sweeter at Dairy Center and the chili was more flavorful. I liked the toasted and mashed bun. We had one with chili, mustard and slaw, and another with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Service was fast. Only six booths for dining-in and it got a bit loud, but there is plenty of memorabilia on the walls to check out. Prices were very reasonable. We decided the Dairy Center cheeseburger was the best in three places we tried in Mt. Airy.

My daughter just got me a hamburger there with lettuce and mayo and milkshake and brings it to me and after I had eaten half of it while I was working, I looked down and the dang thing is red inside and not even cooked!!! The milkshake had a hair on side of cup that was also in edge of cup. Now praying it doesn't make me sick! Never again!!

Great old school little place for lunch. It was cold so I didn't get ice cream, but I will next time! I did get the cheeseburger with coleslaw, yummy onion rings & very good sweet tea. $12 including tip, good deal and great service for a quick lunch.

Fun stop for ice cream. The homemade ice cream is so good! I really loved my chocolate milkshake and the rest of our group thought their pineapple orange and pineapple coconut was amazing.

We visited from out of town and took a chance on Dairy Center. What a great experience we had. The service was fantastic all around with even the manager / owner going the extra mile to my our visit great. We will be back!
