My wife and I were traveling through the area and had plans to eat on Main Street but all the businesses were closed and it was only about 6p.
This was the first time we've ever eaten at Mayberry Drive-In. We're both well traveled to include overseas ventures; we've eaten at a myriad of places. I'm not certain if the food is always like it was in the month of 08/2024, if ownership has changed or the cook/staff were new but this was a horrible food experience. These were the worst cheeseburgers we've ever eaten in our life and the fries were undercooked.
We ordered a cheeseburger and pizza burger. Everyone knows what a pizza burger is in the southeast; the 'southeast version of pizza burger' anyway. I'm not trying to be facetious but there's no other way to say this, both were horrible. The pizza burger was so bad, had I been the cook staff I would have been embarrassed to allow that to exit my building. Slapping a piece of cheese and four raw pepperonis across the top of a subpar burger isn't what constitutes a pizza burger. It honestly looked like something a 12 year old child would make, totally devoid of any flavor and subpar hamburger usage. The burger tasted exactly like low quality hamburger from some Walmart or Food Lion. Horrible. I did not address the issues there that evening because truthfully I was exhausted from traveling and just didn't feel like getting into drama with the business because of their practice in my exhausted state of mind.
My wife's cheeseburger..."McDonalds cheeseburgers are better than this. Slop job. Throwed together"
I'm not attacking anyone within the business; why would I, I don't know any of them. If anything this is merely a reflection of the lack of quality work staff in the locality and certainly no solid training. If they don't know how to make solid burgers and pizza burgers, I want to say that's fine, but remove them from the menu until you get all the kinks worked out. We paid $17 for this subpar, bad meal which is just unacceptable. I'm sorry but this place really needs to step up their game.

My wife and I were loyal customers for several years at another local restaurant. When it went under new management, the quality went down and the prices went up. We needed a new option. After our first visit, it was clear Mayberry Drive-In is our new favorite. Everything we have tried so far has been excellent. Great quality, service and the prices are reasonable and actually less than our previous spot. The car hops are friendly and pretty fast. We look forward to being a long time customer.

Best place in Mt Airy to eat in my opinion. The food there is always good and fixed the way you ask for it. Never have I gotten the food and it not been the way I ordered it. The staff are always smiling and friendly, even on these 90° + days
Parking: Parking can be a little tight for a big vehicle, but it can be done if you can drive

Have eaten here many times. Prices and food are great. Only complaint i have is the breading on the porkchop sandwich is too salty. A little less salt and it would be perfect.

Old fashioned drive-in restaurant with great burgers and hot dogs! Fun atmosphere with fun memorabilia on display. Only thing missing was waitresses delivering food on roller skates!
