I love the food here. I used to eat here almost everyday when I lived in Mount Olive. The staff are great, most of them have been there for years. I know they had to close the bar down during COVID but I look forward to when they will be able to reopen it. A margarita is the only thing missing when you eat here. I stop by Maya and visit with Mr.Freddy and the staff anytime I am in town. I would recommend them to anyone passing through, it’s well worth the stop.

I have been going to the Mayan Bistro since it’s opening. The food has always been good, however the last few trips have proved that the quality has gone down. My husband , my parents, my children, and myself went on a Sunday afternoon. My children ordered Flautas Mexicanas (taquitos). The frozen box at Walmart is more flavorful than what they were served. Two different people were served enchiladas. One order the meat was not seasoned at all. The sauce on all orders of enchiladas was nothing more than tomato sauce. The tamales were thick with barely any filling inside of them. We would have sent a few dishes back, but finding a waitress was nearly impossible. We ended up asking other members of waitstaff for refills. After eating the lingering feel of grease could be felt in your mouth. We were never asked how our experience was. A year or two ago I would have raved about the food. Even when there was little waitstaff and cooks and the owner was doing everything in the restaurant. You could tell that the morale was higher and the food was better.

I have ordered from this restaurant several times since 6/4/2021 and it has gone down hill since. Portions are ridiculously small even when you pay for the dinner menu item. Last night (3/8/2023) was the last time we are going to visit or order pickup. Our portions were extremely small, chicken was stringy and tough. What happened? You guys were my favorite. Do better!Disappointing food·Small portions·Poor presentation·Not child-friendly·Slow service
