For us, worth the trip! We drive 100 miles door to door from Belhaven, NC. We love the special location, atmosphere, view, friendly staff & delicious seafood tacos!!! It's our go to for a getaway & excellent experience !!!

I visited here in October on vacation with my husband for lunch. The food was very good. For entrees, I got blacken grilled fish tacos. However, the star of the show for me were the shrimps! I especially enjoyed the 1/2 lb of shrimp we had for an appetizer. The seasoning was on point! I could have eaten that as a meal. We will definitely be back and order more shrimp next time! Pro Tip: If you get lost easily like me the entrance to the restaurant may be a little confusing as there is gift shop before the restaurant seating. The host counter is on the left side of the building before you past the gift shop. The host will take you past the gift shop to sit.

You don't go here for the food, it's to sit on the pier and drink. The food is so you don't fall off your stool due to drinking.

I can't recommend this place if you have a dog or especially a baby and a dog.Dogs aren't allowed on the pier and so they stick you in the corner of the walk around for the pier house. This corner is also right where the door to the kitchen is where dirty mops and such are stored and kitchen staff go out for a quick smoke break. It literally feels like you're just stuck in a back corner somewhere like a lower class. There's no actual tables, just a dirty old railing and backless bar stools to sit at this rail.It didn't help that we were sat apparently just too far forward of this area and because we had a dog in a bag were told we had to move back by the manager. It looks like a cool spot but unfortunately we couldn't handle the second hand smoke since we had our 4 month old with us. I can't rate the food or service but the hostess were friendly and the wait who we talked to briefly seemed nice enough.Edit:In response to the business response, I'm well aware that we can't be seated inside due to health department regulations. The entire North East corner appeared to me to be outside seating, far as I know this is normally allowed for dogs as far as the health department is concerned. I'm not sure where the other area is unless it's the couple of picnic tables right at the front. We were told dogs were not allowed further north east than an arbitrary line which basically separated the narrow walk way around the south side to the larger square area of outdoor seating. We were literally as outside as outside can be when we were told we had to move.We were originally sat by the hostess and then a manager came and told us to move about 6 feet back. So it was absolutely not an issue of us being inside vs outside. We've taken dogs plenty of places and are well aware of what's generally acceptable and pick places which have outdoor seating and allow dogs. This place clearly doesn't want you to bring dogs but won't just say it.

Very popular spot in South Nags Head. Happy hour starts at 4pm. Get there early if you want a seat. Lots of different kinds of beer and good food. Take time to walk out onto the pier. Great views! August 2022 update: Thankfully this place has not changed!! It remains a great place for food and some flavorful adult beverages!!! October 2023 update: Still love the peel n eat shrimp for happy hour!! And the views from the pier are awesome!!

Came for the view and left because of the hostesses attitude. The view is great and they have an excellent beer menu. The seating is comfortable and the servers are delightful. The only reason they don’t get 5 stars is the hostess. She is not around when you want to be seated. She acts like she doesn’t want you here. I’ve been here for 15 minutes and watched her just walk away from people who have questions. Rude.

Fish Heads Bar & Grill is genuinely one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. We were sat on the pier during a beautiful sunset. The atmosphere can not be topped. The food was fantastic. The fried fish and the crabcakes were to die for.Overall, if you are looking for a beautiful beachside dining experience do your self a favor and got to Fish Heads!!Parking: Parking is easy to find and very accessible.

I love going to Fish Heads Bar & Grill. They have the best grilled tuna bites with a sweet chili dipping sauce. It is an appetizer but can be eaten as a meal. I also recommend their bacon and cheese fries. A unique atmosphere as it is on the fishing pier with views of the beach. Quick and great service, always!

Great beach bar and service. Only order some spiced shrimp. The other menu items not so great! Go there for drinks not food

We visited Fish Heads after a friend recommended it. Parking was plentiful on the most beautiful October Saturday in years. The lady who seated us was awesome as was the guy who greeted us while she was seating others. We had a table with an umbrella in a perfect location. Everything on the menu looked so yummy. We each ordered a nice cold beer. We ordered southwest egg rolls-tasty, tuna bites-tasty, the Sun kissed chicken sandwich which was a fried buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. My BF said it was the best chicken sandwich he has ever had. My son got a BBQ with fries. He ate every bite. I had a garden salad and shrimp tacos. The shrimp tacos were delicious and plentiful. The salad was very fresh and tasty although i needed more salad dressing. My fault because I didn't ask. Our server was getting ready to leave and switch over so I didn't want to bother her. She was outstanding. We took enough food home to have 2 meals for dinner. I highly recommend Fish Heads.

We just had a great lunch here today! This spot has a beautiful view of the beach and the pier, with fast and attentive service. The friendly hostess Recommended their Tuna and fish tacos, and she was spot on! the tuna bites are fresh caught daily and they were delicious. We also had the fish tacos, and the grilled shrimp tacos. The tacos tasted fresh, and were a large portion. I would definitely recommend this spot!

I loved this place! Located off the fishing pier, you can sit outside and watch people fish and gaze at the ocean while you’re dining. I had the special southwest burger with cheese fries and it was yum-O! The staff was very friendly and the service was quick!

Was there on a busy Sunday night. Great live music. Fries, veggie burger and lager were really good. Food took only 10 minutes to arrive. Friendly bar tender. All around a great experience.
