This is your sign to get a salad on vacation! After vegan hot dogs and burgers for days, it was so nice to eat vegetables.. the food was excellent and we might even stop again before we head home!
I had a wonderful omelette made with fresh vegetables and turkey bacon. The fresh pressed juice was so delicious. As a person with food allergies, Freshfit has many options for me. They offer vegan and gluten free items, plus turkey sausage or bacon instead of pork. We can’t wait to eat there again on our next OBX visit!
We were excited to try this place, since it had nice pictures on its website and sounded more healthy than a lot of the other restaurants in the area. We ordered 4 different meals. All 4 of us were really disappointed in the food quality. I order a pancake with a side of bacon. The pancake was huge and thick, but not cooked all the way though and didn't taste very good. The bacon was literally BURNT (all black). I asked for a non-burnt replacement, which was okay. My daughter's bowl was also very disappointing. The menus were not in good shape -- worn out. Also, our table was very sticky -- our arms stuck to it.
I would rate 10 stars! This was our favorite breakfast on our OBX trip! The owner is so nice and friendly. The food is very well flavored and one of best “fit” breakfasts we’ve had! They have smoothies and fresh pressed juice, tofu scramble and gluten free pancakes! They cater to a lot of different dietary preferences and it’s food you can feel good about eating. The outside seating is right along the water and I’d imagine it’s so awesome when the weather is nice. We came in on a rainy day so we enjoyed a cozy breakfast inside. They have so much to offer! I got the tofu scramble with onion, pepper and spinach and vegan cheese. My husband got his eggs scramble his way and hash browns. His juice was the flu fighter (carrots) and I got medicinal (beets). The juices were fresh and so tasty, we felt energized! We recommend stopping for a quick juice or a sit down lunch/ breakfast! It’s all good and the service is fast and friendly!
I wanted to really like this place. They advertise as “fit and healthy” meals. Unfortunately, not the case. The only great thing about this place is the atmosphere. It’s located right on the water and views are amazing. The staff was super friendly, but definitely understaffed. We came for breakfast and it took over an hour to get our food. We weren’t in a rush, so it was no big deal. Food was not great.. what so ever but this may have to do with the fact that they were understaffed. Not sure. Coffee was terrible - I feel bad saying that but they advertise for espresso drinks and it tasted like a burnt drip coffee mixed with milks for our lattes and cappuccinos. I won’t be back here - there are several other better spots in OBX
Don’t go to this place during busy time. They are not staffed to provide food in time. Pancakes were burnt and not eatable.
It was such a fun, cute little café right by the water. They are family friendly (including your furry family member) and they have so many healthy, delicious options.
The gluten free selection is excellent- the case of baked goods was almost entirely gluten free and the menu had more GF options than I've seen in a while.
The gentleman at the check out is delightful, he's so easy to chat with and attentive to all the customers, even when it got busy.
Finally, there's a shop area at the entrance with a good variety of souvenirs at good prices. They also had handmade mugs for really good prices. It's a great place to have breakfast or lunch and then grab a little piece of memorabilia. I can't wait to be back for lunch today 😊
Delicious breakfast
Such kind people serving extraordinary food in a gorgeous setting. We grabbed take out to eat at Lost Colony and were blown away by how delicious our lunch was. The bowl was huge and full of fantastic textures and flavors, and the recommendation to pair a lemon tahini sauce with the fish sandwich was incredible. I’m already craving this place again and can’t wait to go back.
It's an adorable cafe that seems to be family run. It's a relaxed and chill atmosphere. I was only in there for a few minutes getting to-go smoothies, but it has a cool cafe/diner mixed with vegan and beach vibes.
The smoothies were delicious.

I wish everyone eatery could serve healthy and delicious offerings like Freshfit Cafe's.
I was super excited to learn that this establishment doesn’t serve any pork and only has turkey and chicken based breakfast meats. I spent $26 on 4 bagels for breakfast for the household and they all were terrible. I personally ordered a turkey sausage and cheese bagel and was sooooooo disappointed. The few pieces of sausage that I did get on my bagel were so overcooked it tasted disgusting, the bagel was over toasted and I could clearly tell it was a store bought off the bread aisle out of the bag bagel. The place was nice inside and the gentleman working was very nice and talkative. I just wish the food matched the place and didn’t suck.
Best breakfast in Nags head!!! Best customer service ever!!!!
Amazing for people with celiac disease!!! They have separate prep areas so no risk for cross contamination, and the food is so good it makes you question if it’s gluten free. Best gluten free food on the beach!!!!!
I would highly recommend this spot to anyone who plans on visiting The OBX. The breakfast here was amazing. There's a very wide variety to choose from while you still get a homey, coastal feel. The food definitely lives up to the name. Would visit again!
