The service was fine. However we are here two years ago and the quality of the food has decreased. My hubby had the chicken wings and they came out cold, He also ordered the calamari and they were so tiny and also cold. He then ordered a cheeseburger as his main meal and as u can see he didn't finish it bc it was over cooked, greasy and just not good. Unfortunately i won't ever be back :(

Good seafood at a reasonable price. Our waitperson was very attentive, knew the menu and checked back with us appropriately. Would return.

Amazing fresh local seafood! Staff was excellent. We can't wait to return on our next OBX visit. Highly recommended!

Food was just average, shrimp pasta was more like macaroni soup. Fancy name but nothing fancy in food - simplify and not try anything exotic!

I'd like to give this place a 3.5 but it's trying to make it and I know it's hard here on the OBX. Looking for a new restaurant since our local favorite seems to have gone downhill we came across the fantastic reviews here at Mahi Mahis and were actually excited to try it. Maybe we got our expectations pretty high... The place is nice, no reservations, and the servers are friendly but the food was just OK. There wasn't anything memorable about our meal, the best part was the children's chicken tenders. The cocktails were city prices and WAYYY too sweet. I'm a big shrimp and grits fan so I obviously knew what I was ordering when I saw "Award Winning" and my wife and I can't help but wonder what that award was. We ended up splitting her Mahi Mahi Ruben, what felt like the best deal of what we ordered and it desperately needs acid to brighten if up. A bill of $100 for 2 adults with one cocktail each and an app. This place is newish and obviously looking to please the most people but we weren't impressed and it reminded us why we tend to eat at home even on vacation.

Amazing food!! They were able to make a GF, DF version on their yellow fin tuna special. My husband had the seafood combo.

We showed up right when they opened and they were able to accommodate our party of 17 easily! The hostess was so kind and our waiter Jodi was on top of it! Everything ran smoothly and the staff rocked! We saw them turn atleast two four tops within 40 minutes of opening! Our group has a lot of allergies and dietary restrictions and they were able to accommodate everyone! The entire group was blown away by the food! Mahi mahi’s island grill will definitely be a vacation staple for our trips!

Visited the OBX for spring break and really had a hard time finding good food. As a true foodie, this "VACAY" was very disappointing in regards to the food scene. However, Mahi Mahi came through at the end of the visit!!! I ordered the steak and cheese sub with provolone cheese and I asked them to add the lettuce and tomatoes to the sandwich. It was very tasty with the garlic aioli. The only downside is I was charged $1 for each additional item added and was not told until the bill was received at the end of the meal. Not a big deal but guest should be told that there will be additional cost associated with modifications. My roommate ordered the fish of the day which was cod with a side of mashed potatoes and house made coleslaw. He got the cod blackened and pan seared. I stated that it was very good. Good job guys!

After hearing another place close by had a long wait we bounced over here and got sat right away. Our server was super friendly. There was a TV screen that boasted the beautiful dishes they served which helped my party choose their entrees. We had a mahi Reuben (my husband ripped into it before I could pic it) . Unique and really good. I ordered a tuna appetizer, the toastada chips and the wasabi topping with miso soy glaze was so delicious, (see pic, it was amazing!) and then the fried green tomatoes appetizer for my dinner, plenty big for 1 person. The kids grilled cheese was made on Texas toast which made it hard for my 4 year old to eat, the bread slices were very large. Server was super nice about separate checks which also made the check at the end easy for my sister and I.

This gets High ratings from me which is not normal. I am pretty hard but this place is a go to if you’re in the outer banks. Definitely worth trying. I do not think you will be disappointed. Ariel was our server and she was great. Will ask for her when we go back. Yes we are going back , maybe tomorrow.

So to start this off my partner and I came in about an hour and a half before close so we weren't necessarily expecting to get catered to... So she order the seafood stew and I get the catch of the day seared with sweet potato mash, Brussel sprouts and I also ordered seared scallops. It takes around 15-20 minutes for our food to come out and the scallops are no where to be found. My partners meal was very good, the broth was very tasty with mussels, shrimp and mahi mahi, both her and I recommend. However, another 20 minutes go by NO SCALLOPS. I believe myself to be a patient person and was just patiently waiting while I slowly ate my food. The catch of the day was Rockfish, I got about 6oz of non-seasoned seared fish that was covered in my sweet potato mash . Another 20 minutes go by and the poor waitress has gone back to check on my scallops 2-3 times now. Spoiler alert! they never come out and I asked for them to be taken off of the check because at this point we had both finished our meals and it was pretty obvious that they didn't want to sear the scallops ! Oh! and to add my meal was TWENTY-SEVEN $$ for 6oz of rockfish, sweet potato mash (which both saved and hurt the meal...) and mushy under-seasoned brussels. My partner's food saved this review because I voted to give them a 2 alone for the service? Anyways...as a person who has grown up eating in OBX the hype for this restaurant is not deserved in my personal opinion! We went to Oneal's for lunch and got a rockfish platter for 16$!!! and it was absolutely AMAZING if only they were open for dinner or we would have gone back!
