This restaurant has the classic outer banks feel. Formerly Owens Restaurant for several decades, The Captain's Table maintains the same charm and allure. The fried seafood platter was enjoyable. The Shrimp and Scallops were especially delicious. The collards were fantastic.

Thanksgiving Day buffet was a resounding success all ‘round. Food was outstanding, a huge variety. Our party of eight was unanimous in raving about everything we ate. Service was very good. Staff clearly were working very hard but made us feel like we were the only ones there. Pace was relaxed and not at all rushed. Even though it was full, it didn’t feel at all crowded. A new family tradition is born! Thank you Captain’s Table. Congratulations on an event very well done.

We have been going to Owen’s since the 70’s and always enjoyed it. This past September, we visited for breakfast. As we walked in we hesitated because there was no one around. So we ventured inside to a table. I found a waitress and she said someone would be with us soon. That didn’t happen. So again I went and found the waitress. We went back to the table and waited a long time. By the way the extremely loud big band era music was not conducive to a nice breakfast. We left. How bewildering and disappointing.

Oh the ATMOSPHERE!!! This place was great! Great food, great service, and antiques and art scattered throughout made for a great experience! We got the buffet - note, they only open it when someone orders it, so that the food is FRESH. A lot of times I look at the simplest things to get a feel for a place. The potatoes were crisp/tender, with onion cooked right in - delicious. Bacon was crisp without being even the least charred. The servers were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Definitely coming back this trip, and every trip after!!

We live in Kill Devil Hills for the off season. Owings used to be our favorite spot but was becoming inconsistent a going downhill a couple years ago, so we’d stopped going. When we heard there were new owners and that they’d been in place for a while… we had to go back. We’re sorry we made the trip. The same filthy carpet all over, the same dirty wall accents, the same boring food. My seafood order came with scallops instead of a crab cake (and they had no taste). Bread was great, our guests’ food was as expected, except one was not thrilled with her fried oysters. The gentleman serving us was outstanding! His personality and playful banter saved the evening for Owings. As we were leaving, other incoming patrons were complaining about the bar upstairs no longer being open at night, and it appears the new owners need to take another look at what they’re doing. If they could make just one great change, it would be to get rid of that filthy smelly carpet down the main hallway (with twenty years’ worth of grime and grit)… and clean the place up!
Classic seafood at the beach with fancy vibes. Really good fish and scallops!

An interesting place to dine, with quality food at a very fair price. My son and I will be returning the next trip to the Banks.

One of our all-time Outer Banks favorites going back to the 70's. We go back every year when we visit.

I would like to express my disappointment with the level of customer service and communication I received when attempting to inquire about Thanksgiving reservations. I understand this is a busy time for restaurants, and that is exactly why I called well in advance—more than a month out—to ask about your holiday hours and reservation process. Unfortunately, my experience with your staff was less than satisfactory.
On multiple occasions, I was answered by the same staff member, who did not introduce herself or offer any clear information. Despite my simple inquiries regarding hours and reservations, she lacked the knowledge and professionalism to assist me, instead telling me to call back during peak hours and ask for a manager. As a customer, I intentionally called during off-peak times to avoid interrupting your team’s service and to ensure I could get the information I needed without hassle.
To add to my frustration, I took the time to provide feedback and ask my questions again via your Facebook page, only to have my comment deleted with no response. This is highly unprofessional and indicates a lack of transparency in handling customer concerns.
I expect better communication and customer care from a restaurant, especially during the holiday season when planning and reservations are critical. I hope that you address these issues and ensure your team is better prepared to assist customers in the future.
Food and service were excellent. I would recommend eating there and will be back for sure.

We went for breakfast, it was horrible, omlette was overcooked and rubbery, potatoes were undercooked and hard. Some kind of mystery meat on my plate that I didn't order. Everything thing tasted the same. The coffee was lukewarm and nasty. All this and overpriced as well. The building had a musty smell and felt it's age. The window sills and windows were very dirty. Just a horrible all round experience.

Was there for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Loved the food. It was served as a buffet style service. Great place to hold an event.

Big breakfast so we can skip lunch! Had to try Owens as they now serve breakfast and lunch with new owners. We both have to say it was excellent…great staff and delicious food! Sometime this year, the name will be changing to the Captain’s Table just so you’ll know. We will be back! Thank you!!!
