Walked away from this eating experience disappointed. Was so looking forward to a Carolina BBQ meal with hushpuppies, Coleslaw, sweat tea, & a vinegar based BBQ sauce since I was in eastern NC. Hushpuppies were burned, was told I could get vinegar BBQ sauce, I couldn't & was given something like Sweet Baby Ray's, the rest of the meal I could have got at home in Ohio. I even checked the reviews before going & they made the place sound good. Had the sweet tea been good I would have given it 2 stars because at least that part of the dream would have been met. How do you screw up sweet tea in NC?

We ordered a 8 piece bucket that was horrible. The chicken was reheated and dry. We are locals and heard how good the chicken was. The staff needs to be told old chicken should not be reheated and sold. Customers will wait for fresh chicken.

We visited the Outer Banks this past week and Sooey's is always our "go to" restaurant to eat at!! Their brisket and pulled pork is the best ever!! The brisket "melts in your mouth"!!! Unfortunately we could not eat at the restaurant due to the virus restrictions but we got our food to go!! Hush puppies and honey butter are too die for!! Our server was so sweet, nice and pleasant!! Unofrtunately I did not catch her name but she was amazing!! We will defintely visit Sooey's every time we come to the beach!! Not just for the awesome food but for the server as well!! She was great!!

I got one of their pulled pork sandwich's. The table just got washed right before I was seated so it smelled like bleach and was still slightly wet, however the food was good.

Best brisket in town. Great service and pet friendly. I would give 10 stars.

We ordered food for our Beach Wedding reception in Kill Devil Hills on July 3, 2013. There were 50 people attending in lieu of the 35 that RSVP'd. The staff and owner were awesome! The food was fantastic:) Thank you for making my wedding day even better...

Brisket is served wet with sauce, kinda like a sloppy Joe. Average flavor, but could not taste any smoke.
