Today I ordered a beer, was handed the beer for which I paid $5 which I had in my pocket. however while I was getting my wallet out of my bag, to get more money for a tip, apparently not fast enough, cause he quickly and loudly commented, "thanks I'll try not to spend the tip all at once. i was dumbfounded!! i wasnt even given the chance to tip. which I did... a $1. told him not to spend it all in one place. Despite this, other staff was great as was the food.
Wonderful place to enjoy the beach atmosphere and local fare. The Tuna Bites are the bomb!!

The walls are covered in old license plates, like a route 66 of Nags Head. There is a great variety of food, and awesome deserts!

Cool local establishment with quality food, great cocktails, and a fun vibe! We sat at the bar and ordered a couple beers (to take the edge off) - ordered the crawfish, steamed Carolina pinks, steamed clams, and the local yellow fin tuna sandwich. They tell you straight up when you order the crawfish dish that they’re not fresh, but honestly you could have fooled us! The chef definitely knows what he’s doing blending garlic, tomatoes, red peppers, and onions with the crawfish! The shrimp were super fresh - the clams were quite possibly the biggest and cleanest (no grit) we’ve had in a long time - and the local tuna was incredible! Ended with a couple gin cocktails that were light and delicious! If you’re looking for good food and a low key vibe, this is your place!
Ps) They have sand volleyball courts out back that people are welcome to play on.

My family has been vacationing in Nags Head for many years, & I've now lived here for 3 years. Tortugas is our favorite place for family dinners & just anytime we are hungry for some great food with a Caribbean fair. The food is delicious & fresh, & the service is always friendly. The worst thing is that sometimes the wait to be seated can be long because so many people know about Tortugas from TV or simply word-of-mouth, & everyone wants to eat here. Dress here is casual, as is the friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend you try Tortugas!

It was our first time here. Would highly recommend!! Everything was absolutely fantastic!! Shawn was our server, he was so friendly and attentive. We both ordered the specials. I got the yellowfin tuna and my husband got the flounder both delectable. We also ordered a Buffalo shrimp stuffed jalapeno appetizer, also fantastic! No complaints, excellent food, service and atmosphere!!

We arrived and there was a 15 min wait at 5:30. It was so worth it, though. I had the salad special. It was grilled salmon on a bed of mixed greens with a savory delicious dressing, cashews, feta, sweet red peppers, and grilled red onions. Superb! My husband ordered the jerk chicken. He said rhe jerk seasoning wasn't very strong, but it was cooked well and her enjoyed the rice and beans with the pineapple chutney! Our daughters enjoyed their PB&J and pasta with butter. They ended their dinner with the chocolate peanut butter pie. My oldest was disappointed that it wasn't the whole pie, but she rated it a 10. We will definitely return! Thank you for a delightful evening!

Always a required stop when in OBX. The fish Tacos are delicious and Tortugas hot sauce is mouthwatering. The chips and salsa are a great app to add to any meal.
