I've been going here for over 10 years so take this review at face value as I have extensive history dining here. Within the last 5 it has gone so far downhill it might be at rock bottom now. The servers do not know customer service at all. They don't care about making you happy, they only care about doing the bare minimum. The rest do not care about customer experience and it shows. I've had to get up and get my own drink several times, during non busy hours. Food is fine, but nothing spectacular. Portions have gotten significantly smaller and the penny pinching, big headed owner does not know how to run a restaurant. He will take any opportunity to squeeze a charge here and there out of his customers. I have been told by a few servers that they reuse their chips and salsa. Overall just save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. Anywhere else.

I have been coming here for over 20 years now due to the food, atmosphere and friendly staff. Over the last year myself and my family have noticed a decline. Tonight though, we were seated, given menus, and then it was 15 minutes before anyone came back to take even our drinks. During that time we watched 2 other groups walk out because they had not gotten service.We did get to order after another 10 minutes or so and things seemed to be running better. The food was fine, except my dad’s fajitas Texanas came out cold which I’m not sure how but he’s not one to complain.I get times are hard but I also have a hard time with a 3.5% increase on my bill due to using a card, when the service was lacking and I’m still expected to tip.I think what bothers me most is I’ve read other reviews in the last 5 months or so and saw the response from the restaurant and I don’t get the idea that the reviews will really matter to them as much as it might to someone looking for a good place to eat for their time and money. It doesn’t seem that they’re worried about the loss of customers either or they would change some of the things people keep complaining about.I hate to say it but I’m probably not returning with my family. My money and time are limited and I want to go where that is better valued.

Terrible service, just ok food and to top it off they charged us for water!! And add 3% to use a card. Better choices in NewBern than this.

No high chair offered or brought after asking. Waited 15 minutes for service and to get a high chair finally. Everyone was acting sour puss and mad.Tamales were dry as dirt, crumbled when you took off corn husks. Plates for adults were cold, thrown togethe. 5 nickle sized pieces of meat, 1/4 cup rice and beans, 2 cups of wilted lettuce thrown on top of it all was their pork carnitas plate. Plate of the Food for my 1 year old was opposite of adult plates it was LAVA ? placed right in front of him. Drinks stayed empty. Restaurant had four other tables occupied that I could see. Taste, service, and whole experience were lacking. Rarely do I offer a poor review. Even if it was poor. But this one just hit differently.

The food here is consistently good. The service is generally quick, too. The selection is expansive, and prices are below average. I've been here solo as well as with large groups, and the service and food are both great. They also have a pick up window for carry out.Vegetarian options: If you eat dairy, the vegetarian options are pretty good. They have a vegetarian section on their menu that has a few options, and the food is really good. The vegetarian fajitas are fantastic, as is their other options. Bean and cheese enchiladas are probably my favorite.
The decor and atmosphere tries to match the wonderful Mexican dishes, but the taste of the delicious food wins! Massive variety of combo meals at reasonable prices and excellent margaritas!Parking: Located in a strip of stores that share parking.Wheelchair accessibility: There are several handicap spots with ramps scattered along storefronts. Ramps to store level sidewalk.
