Never in my life have I felt like a hostage, until today.I accompanied my husband on a business trip. Today, while he was gone to his office, I was verbally accosted by two of the housekeeping staff, first generally, and then DIRECTLY. I had been on a FaceTime call with my 4 old granddaughter, when two housekeepers (directly outside my door, in sight through the peephole) began LOUDLY "discussing" their displeasure with their supervisor, and the "plans" they had for that person. They were repeatedly shouting every offensive curse word in the book, and my granddaughter heard every one of them. While I am very concerned for the safety of the supervisor of these two women, I am equally deeply concerned about the message that was just sent to my granddaughter while audibly witnessing this vitriol. I curtly ended our call, and notified the front desk. Thankfully, they sent someone up immediately. However, of course, the two women (who were still outside my door, not knowing I was watching through the peephole and listening) vehemently denied any knowledge of the situation. So, I opened my door, and was forced to "out" myself as the complainant, naming both of them. At that point, I thought it was over. However, after I retreated to my room, and the person who had come to make them stop had left, they continued their assault- on ME! Banging on my door, falsely accusing me of calling them "N""'s"(they were African American), and shouting "Bitch" at me. This is NOT acceptable- in a Marriott, or ANY other place!!!! Proceed at your own risk. Checking OUT, literally.

We were in town for the weekend to visit family. The hotel was in a great location, on the water and within walking distance of downtown. The price is very reasonable. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, we had plenty of towels and the heat/AC was in perfect working order. The bistro/bar is quite small but they do have the option to grab a drink and some food. My ONLY complaint was that they only had 1 elevator so we had to wait quite a while to get the elevator during check out time. Otherwise, it was GREAT and we would definitely stay here again.

Very pleased with our stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean, nice lounge area. Great river views and pool area. Really close walk to downtown. Would definitely stay here again.

Great facilities. Booked a room on the 15th this last weekend for a getaway. Great location and rooms. No internet! Tried to watch a movie but no go. Notified the front desk and was told "sounds like an IT thing and the guy just left". Next morning told the check out staff and was glibly told they were sorry to hear that. Other than lack of functioning internet and really uninterested staff I would recommend this place.

We were very disappointed in our stay at this hotel. The room had a very noisy wall air conditioner and was extremely humid in the room even with the air turned low. We had a very drunk man pounding on our door at 2:30 in the morning insisting on getting into our room. The room wasn't very Covid friendly. The remotes were not covered and there was mold around the air conditioner. We had to wait for our room as it wan't ready by check-in time. Skip this one.

I went to New Bern to take images of the beautiful views of the huge river that runs into the ocean, the scenery is so breath taking. Because I had to drive three hours each way, I decided to stay at the Waterfront Marriott, and what a lovely place it is. The views from my balcony of the massive river that immediately runs into the ocean was so calming and beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and the room was clean without some of the smells you might incur at cheaper hotels. The service was awesome, lots of smiles and polite welcomes, and the bar lady made conversation with me while I drank a small cocktail at the bar after dinner. They had a small pool, and the only think I didn't like was the water was a little too cool for me to swim in. Other than that, everything was lovely, and I would definately make the Waterfront Marriott my first choice when staying in New Bern, NC the next time. Review by Klacey's Photography.

When you visit New Bern it should be stated this this town is quaint and charming. This hotel kind of blends in with the area type. It's right on the water which is great and Downtown New Bern is literally outside of the hotel doors. The rooms are clean and cozy, and help give you a warm feeling if visiting during the fall and winter time. The location of this hotel is what makes it a great option for a short stay

This hotel has one of the best locations along the waterfront in New Bern and although the location literally brought us there, the level of customer service and cleanliness will bring us back. New Bern does not have a lot going in general and anything that is happening is quite close to the hotel, so when it comes to travel, location is important. Although I would have like a better view from the room, a last minute booking comes with limited options. The first thing we did was go directly to the pool which at the time felt a bit like swimming in lake superior, so out of the cold water and into the comfortable patio chairs to enjoy the view of the water. The well stocked bar directly off of the lobby is conveniently located and staffed with some excellent folks. Breakfast was a must, and course they offer all of the coffee options anyone would expect, but they also have a impressive menu for a fresh cooked breakfast. Again I have to compliment the friendliness and willingness of the staff to ensure the day started off on a very complimentary and positive note. I really do not understand why this hotel has such an low overall rating, I found it a great stay and will return in the future. Yes the hotel is not brand new and has aged, but it has aged well and is kept extremely clean, I have not found anything cleaner along the coast as of yet. Cheers!

The Courtyard by Marriott is located in downtown New Bern on the water. Some of the rooms have water views and others views of the parking lot. The location of the hotel is a short walk from the downtown area shops and restaurants. You can also walk outside the hotel on the water and sit in the gazebo to watch the boats and ducks. The ducks were a highlight of my stay. Check in was a bit rough here and not the friendliest and a conversation was going on between who was checking me in and another employee. This could have waited. My room overlooked the water. I was using points so am never sure of the room I will be given. The room was mostly in good condition but the bathroom door was warped. I know there was a lot of flooding in New Bern during the hurricane so maybe that caused it. I was happiest to see a regular clock in the room rather than what all the other Marriotts seem to use. When I woke up in the morning the ducks were swimming in the pool finding food. They were cute to watch for a while.

This is a tough review to write. I have so many mixed emotions about my stay here. The positive- the view from the water side is breathtaking! The pool area has such a great view, too! There is a park directly beside the hotel with a whole bunch of ducks and a nice walking path. The location is perfect for being downtown New Bern. It is within walking distance to everything. The beds are comfortable and the TV has netflix. The AC also works very well. That is why it received the 3 stars. Here is the ugly truth about the rest of it. I booked my room almost a month in advance for a balcony room. I purchased through hotels.com which I have never had an issue with in over 60 bookings. When we checked in and got to the room, they had us in a non balcony room with a tiny window overlooking the parking lot. I immediately went back to the front desk and let the lady know. She said I didn't pay for a balcony (which my receipt clearly states I did) and that she had no other rooms available. Her and another woman decided to literally talk about me and the third party I booked through in front of me and my children. I said "I can hear you" and she said "it's not you baby, it's the company that lies to the customers and we have to deal with it." I had two choices- let it go or spend an hour on the phone getting a refund from hotels.com and trying to find another hotel. She would not reimburse me and continued to ignore me and rant and rave to her coworker. It was so unprofessional. The room itself needs a major upgrade and they only have one elevator for the whole hotel. Masks were not being enforced at all and the lock to the room decided to stop working after one usage. They also told me they needed a card for incidentals (which I am used to) but they took out a $20 charge without telling me. I called about it today and the lady said it was released but will take 7-10 days depending on my banking institute. I highly recommend this location looks into their people working the front desk. This woman should not have a job in the hospitality industry. She called me baby over 10 times in 10 minutes, too.

Nice hotel on the river front in New Bern. Room was very large and included a comfy couch and a roll around desk. Show was typical for a hotel, nothing super fancy. Room does include a mini fridge but no microwave in the room.

Excellent customer service upon arrival. The hotel seems to be a little older. Needs a deep cleaning, the bathrooms weren't cleaned very well. It could be because this property is a little dated. The swimming pool needs an entire facelift. The final downfall was the mobile key. Wasnd giving the option through for app during Mobile checkin.

The views are beautiful though there's no chair to sit and enjoy it from the room the staff was lovely very friendly and helpful a room wasn't ready when we checked in but it wasn't a problem cuz we were going to walk around anyways and so we got a nice water view end of the pool very pretty but the toilet would start running in the middle of the night I need to get up jiggle the handle go back to bed a little while later start running again and there's mold in the caulking of the shower and something dripping down the mirrors and the cabinet they must have sprayed them and forgot to wipe them but the bed was comfortable so life is good

The Bistro is located in the lobby of the Courtyard Marriot. The food and drinks are over priced. There are many better places to visit in Historic New Bern
