It was a little loud, but it was also very busy due to MumFest. Amazing food, great staff, from the man greeting & seating you to the servers. And, at lunch, it was only like a 15 minute wait on Saturday during MumFest, whereas the other establishment we attempted to go to had an 1.5 hr wait.
Food here is exceptionally good, coupled with fantastic service! Really great spot. Highly recommend!

Parking: Can be difficult at times sep3nding 9n hats going on downtown, but not normally too hard

I am from Nebraska and was here for the 2024 Mum festival, my group included friends from West Virginia and Maryland…. We come every year and decided to stop here for lunch, seeing it had a rooftop seating option. There was a group of 8, I know large groups are tough. We could not get rooftop seating, which was fine, we sat in the Pub. Got seated, ordered drinks and appetizers. Drinks came in :15+, apps in 25+\1-fried pickles & 1-Calamari. Orders put in and over 30 minutes later, (2 tables of other customers left) our lunches came( club sandwich, 2 bowls clam chowder, 2 salads, fish and chips, and Po Boy). When everything was delivered the fish and chips were missing, bowls of soup were cups, no dressing with salads, no ketchup for fries, and 3 fry orders were cold. They were delivered by a different person than our waiter, so when she left, our male waiter returned about 5-7 minutes later. One of our party asked if he knew if the fish and chips were coming, his reply was, “ I don’t know, I am here right now.” WHAT? Were we at one of the rude restaurants?? When he returned one of our party called him out on the rude comment and his reply was, “ Well, it was the obvious wasn’t it?” He continued with, “What you don’t understand is I have 45 stairs to go up and down.” WOW!!! The food was good, the wait staff, horrible. The manager at the bar downstairs was informed. We paid our bill and left. As we left he said, “Hope you have a great day” very sarcastically. Our group was 6 women in our 40’s-60’s, two in their 20’s. We won’t be eating lunch there next year and in such a cute town, suggest you choose a different restaurant too!
Whatever you do, do not eat here. Horrible service horrible food.

Stopped in for breakfast this morning and had the tacos. They tasted pretty good, the home fries were awesome. The service was friendly and pretty quick. The price was kinda high for two tacos. The avocado was an upcharge.

We were visiting with friends in New Bern and went to this wonderful restaurant ( the 2 of us ) then again with a group of 5 2 nights after. The food both occasions was wonderful. The value is exceptional considering inflation and the quality of the dishes. Drinks were wonderful as were the desserts. It's a little small but the nights we were there it was lively and about 40% full. Due to the size it can get loud but it did not take away from the experience.

Captain Ratty’s has a cozy vibe and great food, but the Crab Cake Burger stole the show. Perfectly seasoned with fresh crab, it was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Highly recommend!
