I’ve been living in newbern for all my life and cow cafe has Always been the go to ice cream shop 1010 ice cream and service , owners are awesome . Always can have a good chat with them . I highly recommend to anybody that has not tried it out !!!! 10/10😎👍

This is an adorable diner style place! They do serve food along with their ice cream that they make at the restaurant! You can even watch while they are making some through a window which we thought was pretty cool. They have a wide range of wraps and sandwiches. But save room for their ice cream! The owner walked around to make sure everyone was enjoying everything which is always a nice touch! There's even a room towards the back where there is a place area for people with smaller kids! Lots of shelves with decorations and their popcorn for sale! We will be back for the 3rd time before we leave...and yes that's 3 times in 1 week if that says anything about this place! Oh and they have a train that runs around the ceiling of the main part of the restaurant! Such a cute addition!
Kid-friendliness: Like I mentioned above...there is a whole room for kids to play towards the back of the restaurant. There are tables in there too so they can eat back there and parents have a place to rest while they play.
Always a great place to stop and grab a good ice cream cone or shake! Usually a steady flow of customers and the staff is just as friendly as they can be. There is a section in the back with interactive toys for just the little ones to play while they enjoy their treat! Give them a try!

Went in to get a milk shake and the general state of the restaurant was dirty and unclean. We were asked to sit down to wait at a table, however, the table was dirty with dirty napkins and cherry stems all over it. As I was waiting for my milkshake, the male employee asked the girl making my milkshake if she can open up the women’s restroom so that he can clean it. I saw her open the door, then proceeded to go back behind the counter, and make my milkshake without washing her hands, and without wearing gloves. Yuck.

I’ve lived here in new Bern for 20 years. I used to come here on hot summer days as a kid. I’ve always loved this place. It’s cute and charming and reminds me of being a kid. The ice cream is the best in town and the food is great as well. I highly recommend getting the cheesesteak moobern with a side of chips and a Pepsi. I also like getting an extra side of pasta salad. My favorite ice cream flavor here is the coffee ☕️ ?
