Friday's 1890 Seafood & BBQ

Last Night experience felt like something out of the Twilight Zone. Let’s start with the immediate service. The establishment was empty, but you could hear staff chatting on the back not knowing that there were customers in the building. After a few knocks on the counter and clearing of the throat did someone come out in a panic with a bit of confusion. We ordered our food and it came out subpar. However the final strike occurred when my wife looked at me in horror.

As she looked at me, her eyes slowly glanced at her plate. My eyes followed, I saw why her face looked the way it did. There was wire from what I assume to be from a wire brush in her food.

We alerted the waitress and she was in shock and told us that she was getting the manager. She came back with the option to give us half off or remove the meal from the bill… That shouldn’t be an option. However the manager never came over.

I got the $12.95 bbq tasted like wet chopped BBQ no flavor at all coleslaw
Mushy and wet and the hush puppies looked done but wasn’t on the inside I see no reason to go back

Asked for a ribeye sandwich didn’t get it only got a ribeye with bread, didn’t ask for coleslaw or hush puppies they don’t give a crap that’s for sure…last time I will ever EVER eat here doesn’t taste good either taste like rubber!

Excellent seafood Platter. Prepared to perfection!
I ate the Deluxe Combination of Oysters and Flounder.
Potato Salad and Cole Slaw.
Susan was the server for the meal and she was the best !!
I'm going to go back very soon and enjoy the best prepared seafood in Craven County!

Stopped for lunch when I was traveling and the food and Dennis’s service was outstanding. I had the whole broiled flounder and highly recommend it.

Went in on Sunday after church. They were NOT busy at the time. Hostess seated us and said a waitress would be right with us. A table diagonally across from us ordered and got their food. 10 minutes rolled by, still no waitress. My husband went to the register area and told someone that we were awaiting service. She said someone would be right with us. Waitress came to table across from us to see if they needed anything else. Never acknowledged we were there. 10 more minutes roll by, and we walked out. This is the first time I have ever received shoddy service from them. We will probably go back at some point, but no time soon. Highly disappointed.😕

This was some of the best seafood I have eaten since being in NC since 2020! Service was exceptional, Jessica our server was phenomenal and prices was just right! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Best seafood in town, and they have awesome customer service.

Kid-friendliness: Kid's meal has enough food for an adult to eat, and it comes with a free drink. They also give kids something to color, and they can put it up on the wall where they want. There is also a beautiful fish aquarium for the kids to see.
