Mario's Pizza New Bern

We’re new bern natives and we come to Mario’s often. They are the real deal. My family is from NYC so I feel qualified to say this. My son and I had lunch here today and he said “This is the best pizza of my life.” He literally says this every time we come here. Hot tip: ask for the cordon bleu pizza. It’s incredible.

Pizza is the best around we are from NY on the island and the zeppoles are great!!! We drive 20 min to get a pizza here.

I waited a while after coming here to post this so I wouldn't get the poor employee at the counter in trouble.

The food here is delicious. After overhearing an irate woman shouting at the staff behind the counter, however, I discovered through their conversation that tips given to workers in the restaurant don't go to them, but that the owner keeps them all.

Having worked in a similar situation in the past, I won't be back. If I tip someone for their service, the money should go to them - not the person I had no interaction with.

The pizza had a generous portion of toppings but not much sauce and very soggy. Perhaps a plain cheese pizza would be better. The hot Italian sub was good. The biggest issue that I had with this order is the fact that they buried the ranch dressing under the wings. I have no idea why they didn’t just place the ranch packet in the carry-out bag!

Phone order and service easy (good attitude). 25min from order to pick-up. However, upon pick up/ payment the first thing you notice is the phone service doesn’t match the ACTUAL customer service (very uninviting). We ordered a large cheese pizza 4/10, and a Philly cheese steak pizza 5/10. Taste was wasn’t terrible, just not that good. The cheese on both pizza’s tasted cheap and processed. I left a 15% tip being generous (card purchases have no choice but to see this option as soon as the transaction is ran), but I’m still wondering why? It was a pick up order?!? Yes, i could’ve selected “no tip”, but would the result be judgement on the next order?!? I guess I’ll never know.

Easily the BEST Italian place in NC. I love that I moved to New Bern but sad I only discovered this 2 months ago! Presentation, taste, quality and price all 10/10. Even the chicken parm was GREAT and the Sicilian is so good. (I’m from NY & pizza usually stinks down here)

Although the food was good in this location, I was surprised by the lack of service. What is the point of having a dine-in restaurant if you don't offer any dine-in services. They don't offer anything related to servicing you, refills, or even taking the food to your table. What's even funnier is that it even offers a tipping option for their store why would I do that when there's no service to provide a tip for.
