Great little hidden place in New Bern. A breath of fresh air in my travels. My waitress was super attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was perfect and the food was delicious while showcasing regional food.

Mj's is great. They are fresh oysters, a variety of seafood to choose from, and their specials are always knock it out of the park. Oh and if you like burgers one of the best in town. Just be prepared to show up early or to wait. It's always busy...Which is a sign of a great restaurant. Highly recommend. ...and the bar is always a fun place to meet people.

Seafood was excellent, however, raw oysters on the half shell were missing the main oyster. They looked like the main oyster was removed and you received whatever was left.

This is our favorite restaurant in New Bern. If you're lucky enough to sit at the bar, it's even better. The atmosphere is perfect!! Chris is a fantastic bartender!! Friendly, prompt, and extremely witty!! The seafood, as well as all of the other menu items, are delicious!! UPDATE!! FOOD STILL DELICIOUS, Chris still an amazing bartender!!

My FAVORITE restaurant in New Bern! The oysters Rockefeller are the best I have had anywhere. I also love the shrimp and grits. Oyster shooter is yummy and you MUST get the soft shell crab Bloody Mary at least once. It's a whole experience! Small inside so go early if you can. They also have outdoor tables so you can bring your furry friends.

The fried scallops were too greasy and weren’t fresh. Totally frozen, could tell by texture.
Server (dark hair, looked like he had a piercing, pink shirt) kept slamming our dishes and glasses down on the table. Totally clueless with zero emotional intelligence.
Used to be good seafood and was looking forward to this place as a Friday-night treat.
Won’t be coming back. Oh well ….

Love this place. Being from MD, I am pretty particular about my crab cakes. They were AWESOME ! It is a small place, so there may be a wait. But it's totally worth it. We went there twice in our two day visit, and we'll certainly go back. Staff is also wonderful !

All that beautiful crab, and all we could taste was salt. The soft shell crab was also very oily, along with way too salty. Can't quite figure out why I am giving 2 stars. I don't like to leave negative reviews, but someone needed to say it.
