This was my first visit to New Bern and my first time trying Mj's at the recommendation of a friend. My order was "to-go". The front door hostess that helped me was lovely and very efficient. The food unfortunately was very disappointing: the Seafood Pot Pie was average with little taste and very little actual recognizable seafood. But what was really awful was the Peanut Butter Cheesecake---it clearly was so old, that it had gotten hard and rubbery in texture, and tasted terrible; possibly due to absorbing the smells of salads or other items that had likely been stored in the same cooling unit. And worse it was a whopping $9 a slice. It was honestly one of the worst desserts I have ever tasted in my life; my first taste was so bad that I spit it out and threw the rest away. I was honestly shocked to be served something so terrible at a restaurant.

We celebrated our 3 year anniversary. Service was wonderful I did the fresh catch and hubby did stuffed Flounder. All was wonderful and didn't disappoint.

We overheard some folks raving about this place and the seafood pot pie so decided to try it. Wowee - I am a pot pie fan from way back, but had never had one with seafood. Out of this world good! The portion was large, and I thought for sure I wouldn’t be finishing it. I was wrong - finished the whole thing. We had a couple of terrific cocktails and our server was great as well. I only gave them 3 stars on atmosphere due to the fact that we ate outside and had to do battle with the huge amount of bees flying around our plates.

We ordered the stuffed flounder ($30) and were disappointed. The description specifically pluralized filets and yet there was only one. We thought we would be able to share it. We did take out and the one stuffed filet had a watery sauce that saturated the sweet potato fries. They were a soggy mess and tasted generic. Having them together in a takeout box doesn’t make sense. Maybe they’re better in-person, but I don’t recommend takeout.
