Moore's Olde Tyme Barbeque Chicken & Seafood

Visited Moore's on 02.26.2025 with family (New Bern, MLK location). Chose the Olde Tyme Chicken Sandwich combo. First bite was alright. Next bite had a large bone, which totally threw me off. Opened the sandwich and started to pick through the remainder of the half cut chicken breast and discovered more smaller bones. I was done! When you pay nearly $10 for a sandwich, you definitely don't expect it to have bones!! Absolutely disgusting!

Had been in Greenville and heard that Moore's was good. The bbq was ok, but nothing to write home about. The potato salad was good. Being that it was in eastern NC I would have thought someone would know how to cook collards. I can eat most collards but those went in the dumpster. When I told the little server they were nasty he just laughed. Will never grace your doors again. If someone wants to go there, it is fine. I will just stay in the car til they finish eating.

We dined in on our last visit although we do use the drive thru too. We got BBQ Sandwiches and I got their sweet iced tea. My husband gets his tea half-n-half. And we also got some fries to share. They give you way too much!🌝

First time with an unsatisfactory meal and service. Ordered at drive though, order was wrong when we got home. Mashed potatoes were runny, fried chicken was cremated. Hush puppies were good as usual.

I usually go through drive thru. The food so far has been really good. My only complaint is they always forget to add the BBQ sauce I ask for.

Moore's BBQ in New Bern is a must-visit for any barbecue lover! I recently stopped by and grabbed a pound of their BBQ, and it did not disappoint. The flavor was rich and smoky, perfectly cooked and tender. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming—perfect for a casual meal. Great. Great. Great. Had chicken and bbq combo. Great. Had trout this time. Delicious. Cole slaw is so good that I had double slaw for sides.

The good: Service was good and the food was technically edible.

The bad: This is the most “corporate” looking and tasting BBQ I’ve ever had. It met all of the qualifications of BBQ by characteristic only, as it was dry and tasteless. Zero soul whatsoever.

The ugly: The hush puppies were cold, stale, hard, and dry. The sweet tea was lukewarm and tasted like raisins. The potato salad tasted like sugar… which, if you know anything about potato salad, is a huge turnoff. The Brunswick stew was just as cold and tasteless as the BBQ.

I’ve been meaning to check this place off my “want to try list” for a while now, and now that I have, I’m never going back again.
