Went here on a recommendation. Found the place easily as it is downtown New Bern. The service was nice but the food was just okay. I enjoyed my meal but it was not as memorable as other places. Typical bar food mixed with southern home cooking. There is something on the menu for everyone.

The Blackberry Mule was delicious!!!! I ordered a Brisket sandwich. Chris, my server, asked what I wanted as a side. Phrased as if it was included. Upon receiving the check, I was charged $1.50 for the side. The apple vinaigrette on the side salad was delicious. The Brisket sandwich was just ok. I was expecting it to be sliced instead of shredded.. Doubtful I would return

Wasn't impressed when this place was Beer Army. Mistake to think a name change would help. Went with six. Wait time with visibly open tables was longer than the half hour estimate. Wait for food after ordering was over half an hour for three salads, two apps and a cheese steak. Waitress was good about drink refills in that time on a hot day. The sweet tea was excellent. None of the salads came out right first time. Cheese steak was mediocre.

We sat outside with our dogs. Hostess brought our dogs water right away. Impressed. Unfortunately our waiter was not as attentive to us. Waited quite a while for drink orders to be taken then another while for delivery. Long wait for our food. Street tacos and Mac & cheese were fabulous. Philly cheese steak just average. Waiter never came back to check on us until we finished our meal. I drank my husband's water to finish our meal. Too bad because otherwise I'd give a much better review.

Must of hit them on an off day after reading other reviews. Hubby had a burger which was good. Onion rings were only warm and not very good. I had fish tacos. Hardly any fish and the taco shells were tasteless. Home chips were ok. So many places to chose from this is off my list.

My husband and I were in New Bern for the 1st time this past weekend. Sunday we were out & about with our dog. We stopped at Poppy's as it has outdoor seating & is dog friendly. Our waitress was great & so friendly. Brought water for all of us immediately! It was too late for lunch & too early for dinner so we had salad & Irish nachos (potato fires with fixings) & it was perfect Will definitely go back to have a real meal!

Great burger with a very crispy bacon. They offer some beers to taste before you choose. Candice was very helpful and paid a lot pf attention and tips

PBB was working on a limited menu as their kitchen was being renovated. It was great they made this clear upfront and showed us a menu. The shrimp tacos and Gunner burger we had were delish! We loved the decor and history of the building (vaults & American patriotism) imparted by our server and fellow NEw Jerseyan. We will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed a late lunch at Poppy's. We both ate tacos (street tacos for me, fish tacos for my wife) and they were some of the best we've had. Would have loved to try their Chicken and Waffles but they were unfortunately already out. Dinks were great also!
Similar menu as the previous Beer Army, food was good. Currently doing some remodeling in the back and upstairs. Friendly service. I'll be back for one of the best burgers in town.

Not sure what happened to this place. When my sister and I arrived the host seemed unfriendly. We were escorted upstairs and when we arrive to our table it was dirty and stood there until someone cleaned it. On the way upstairs we saw two servers on their phones behind the soda station. We sat for 15 minutes wow multiple servers walk past us and waited on other tables but us. No one even took our drink. At that point my sister‘s baby was getting antsy and we decided to leave. There were multiple times they could’ve gotten our drinks, which would’ve been two waters. I understand restaurants have been short. But the staff was rude and clearly not busy. Very disappointed and I won’t ever be back.

Came in an hour before closing to grab a couple drinks. We set at the bar and the bartender seemed less than thrilled to have customers and paid no attention after giving us our first round of drinks. I would understand if we came in like 15 minutes before closing or were ordering food but we were literally there for drinks and we're met with a very unwelcoming atmosphere. When our glasses were empty we were given our check without an offer for another with still 30+ minutes before closing. Seems like a cool place with a great selection and wish I had better feedback to leave.
