This is one of my favorite places to order lunch during my work week. The food is great and my order is always ready when they say it will be!

So far, this is the best place in New Bern for pizza. Pricing is fair, food is delicious, and the atmosphere is minimal but full of friendly staff.

Follow up two years later...
The pizza did not appear to be wood fired! It was a normal pizza with a poor crust and a rely cooked (light coloring) on the bottom. They no longer carry "Pirate Gold" coffee; one of the big reasons to return. I ordered Chianti wine, and my wife ordered a beer. Her beer came with a frosted glass mug, and my wine came in a plastic stemware that looked like it had been around since the 70s. On top of that, the wine tasted like $2 bottle wine, so I sent it back and asked for a Merlot in a glass wine glass. But the merlot tasted as cheap as the Chianti.
On top of all that...a giant cockroach was walking across the dining room floor. We made a waitress aware, and she captured the roach in a dustpan and released it outside.
We were initially excited about our return to this pizzeria, but we were highly disappointed with our visit.

My goodness, Savage’s pizza is a wonder in my mouth. I ordered the Mediterranean, and the tangy, sweet and tasty tomato sauce made me smile with delight. I ate the leftover crust off of one of our group members’ plate.

We ordered for pickup right at closing time and walked in as everyone was cleaning up. I was expecting to greet agitated attitudes due to the lateness of the hour.

“Come on in. Can we get you something to drink?” They were the kindest, most attentive staff I’ve encountered in a long time.

Savage’s wood burning pizzeria is an East coast gem. I was pleasantly surprised.

Went to Savage's to try a place different from our regular spot- will NEVER be back. Atmosphere was like a low-rent "country cookin'" type of place. Plastic goblets for wine, plastic plates, conference center style chairs from the 90s, etc. Okay, we thought, maybe the food and service is really good. Ordered drinks, wings, pizza. Wine was bleh, wings were okay. The service was horrible. One young waitress running her feet off trying to take care of all of the tables (maybe 4-5). One young waitress with an attitude not appearing to do much. My mom had to flag her down to ask for refills, the waitress with the attitude acted like she was doing us a favor. Left the empty/ dirty cups on our table. The owner was in and out of the kitchen in flip flops, violating health code. We finally told them we would pay for what we consumed and go elsewhere. When the owner asked us how everything was, we told her briefly, paid, and left. She followed us into the parking lot to get more information and then argued with us! Said the reason she was wearing flip flops was because she was menopausal and it is hard to "get good help". Overall, horrible experience and will never be back.

No complaints with service but the pizza tastes like disappointment. Zero seasoning, oil or flavor in the crust. It's like pizza toppings on a fat plain tortilla. Ordered the chicken cordon bleu Pizza expecting cutlets of chicken and ham for toppings and instead the meat appeared to be diced up lunch meat cold cuts.

Talk about Nom-Noms! This place has it! The food is outstanding! Big fan of the sweet potato fries with the cinnamon butter and the Stromboli. The parking lot is a lil on the small side, I hope you can parallel park and you actually find a spot. The restaurant is TINY and it lowkey freaks out the waitresses when you bring a party of more than 6 at 8pm and they close in an hour. But hey…all is good and the food was 👌.

Large parties (9 people) were an inconvenience, the food took an hour to get to the table.
