Local restaurant with upscale fare and comfortable atmosphere. Shrimp and grits is a specialty, but if you can't do shrimp, get your grits fix with the Brown Butter Chicken. The Horseradish Salmon is also excellent. Don't wait for dinner...head in for lunch and beat the rush. Or, stop in for an afternoon break and order dessert. Living in luxury!

The restaurant was recommended to me in Wilmington by the docent at Bellamy Mansion. And I was not disappointed. For lunch we had green fried tomatoes and then shrimp and grits. Very very tasty and rich. And the price was absolutely right.

I’ve never had a bad meal for The Chelsea! They get you out within an hour for lunch and dinner is always delicious! Menu is big enough for variety but small enough to not be overwelming. Beautiful/romantic atmosphere and good for business dinners/lunches. They have an upstairs section for bigger parties, party rooms, and a full service bar!Parking: Street parking

08MAR24 - I was in New Bern for a conference. On the recommendation of a friend, we stopped in here for dinner. Service was excellent, food was perfect and the atmosphere was awesome.We had wings and pot stickers for an appetizer and I had the shrimp and scallop pasta dish.I highly recommend everything!

What a wonderful nook, tucked away in this quaint downtown. Seating is comfortable and everyone is friendly -- we made friends with the table next to us. Our server spent time making sure we had all the info we needed from the menu and her recommendations were stellar. I ordered the shrimp & grits. It's different from the creole style but holds its own. The flavor is robust and savory. The brussel sprouts brought the rating from a 5 to a 4. They were burned and only a few were edible. The bacon wrapped scallops are different --- and delicious!

I should've written this review months ago as our experience was so positive! My family had a reunion in New Bern in June, 2023. When calling restaurants to find one that would seat 50-55 people for lunch, I quickly discovered that the restaurants wouldn't accommodate us unless we had a full-blown catered event - very pricey! With The Chelsea as one of my top 'target' restaurants, it was so refreshing to talk with Chris, the manager, who agreed to take on our group. He and I worked together to plan a limited menu, allowing everyone to have a variety of selections at a very reasonable cost per person. We ate in the large upstairs dining room, and Chris and his staff were amazing. Everyone in my family was so complimentary of the BEAUTIFUL room, the TRULY DELICIOUS food, and the STELLAR service we received. I cannot say enough good things about Chris, his staff, and this top-notch restaurant! 5 stars all the way!!!!!
