Called ahead to find out if the restaurant was dog friendly. Was told they were. Drove 25 minutes out of our way to come and was turned around at the gate because they're not allowing anyone to come in to the restaurant this weekend. Called the restaurant to complain and they said it wasn't their fault it was the HOA. In any case the person who took my call three times was rude and disrespectful and hung up on me each of the three times. I will not be trying this restaurant at any time in the future and would encourage anyone wanting to try it to make sure you can get in the gate before driving out.

Great food and atmosphere. Perfect for families and also nice drink specials. It’s nice having a restaurant that doesn’t try to be a bar first!

Went for a late dinner with my son. I had the best Philly steak and cheese I have ever had outside of Philly. The server was very friendly and helpful. The food came out pretty quick and was very generous. My small criticism is that you have to eat in the bar. I don’t understand why the large dining room overlooking the lake is not open. I will still go back.

This place is great! The food is the best on the lake and quite honestly within a 20 mile radius. The restaurant is locally owned and has fresh food and ingredients. The owners and staff make you feel super welcome and the service is always great. I've had everything on the menu and have never been disappointed at all, plus I have kids and it's a family friendly atmosphere where everyone can enjoy food and drinks. I highly recommend it – Neil C.

My friends and I (young adults) went to joeys grill and tap for our last dinner at Badin lake and it was nothing like it used to be. From my perspective growing up here it used to be entertaining, lively, and everyone was a friendly face… this time coming back it was drastically different. We waited 2 hours for our food (4 people ordering simple hamburgers and chicken baskets) and our waitress barely acknowledged us, didn’t take our order till 30 minutes in. If you want a boring meal and you have 3 hours to waste this is the perfect spot for you!

Nice idea for having a restaurant on the lake. Bad idea when customers can’t get through Badin Shores to come eat. Will have to try it another time when we can access it by water. Wish there was a way to see updates on the days they won’t allow restaurant passes before driving all the way out there.

Very slow service, not enough staff.

Friday evening, 6:30. Two tables occupied. 4 people waiting for order to go, including myself. As I waited I witnessed the other take out orders were ALL screwed up, every one of them. When my order came, sure enough it was messed up too. It was a pizza. The pizza was no better than a frozen pizza from DG. To top it off( no pun intended) the waitress simply shrugged and didn’t offer a solution except that I wait another 30 minutes for a re-do. No thanks. This place used to be Cheere and was recently bought by new owners. It’s call Joey’s. It should be called Jokey’s.
I will not be back.

For many many years, Cheers (and before that, The White House) was a place both residents and visitors of Badin Lake loved dearly. Cheers was truly the epitope of the tagline from the show “where everybody knows your name”. It says a lot about a business that is small but mighty. Somewhere that you feel welcomed and important as a customer. The restaurant, the staff, and the customers were the heart of Badin Lake and this was somewhere folks could go to watch a game, play music bingo, hear live music, aong karaoke, and gather with friends and family year round.

Unfortunately, over the past few weeks, this has all changed drastically. Cheers no longer offers any form of entertainment, no live music, no karaoke, no music bingo, no TVs. I think we can all agree that when you purchase a business that was already a fully operational entity, you may want to put your own personality and spin on things, but sadly that was taken too far. The least you can do is ask your “new” employees that have been at Cheers & the White House for YEARS, about what works and what doesn’t work well at the establishment….they know this place…well, they did.

I won’t be returning back to Cheers. I hate to see another great local spot crash and burn but when you turn on the staff and the community, this is the end result. They have lost my business. Really unfortunate.

The bartender Sam is absolutely nothing but the best.
Wish there was a more available seating where the stage and the bar are. It gets very over crowded very fast.

Waited an hour for food. Husband ordered chili and I ordered turkey on croissant. Informed 30 minutes later croissant bread was old. Then ordered chicken quesadilla. Waited another 30 minutes. Waitress was very helpful and nice. Manager ignored us. We live on lake too, but won't be going back.
