I was surprised that it wasn't busy on a Saturday morning so we were really surprised our group of six had to squeeze into a table when the whole time the spare room was empty. The food was fabulous. Service was iffy. New young man needed some assistance but was NEW. I guess paying was difficult and strange with too many in the till. I will go back cause the food was great but will be leary of service.

We came here after a camping trip in the roan mountains before heading home. This place has so much potential, but it fell short in service and atmosphere. Half of the coffee shop was extremely warm, and the other half was extremely cold. There was no comfortable middle. The food took almost an hour to come out, and when our food did come out, the sweet little old lady bringing us our meal kept giving it to the wrong table. She did that for every one of our plates. Also she was quite rude and scolded us for not wanting our strawberry French toast stuffed with her homemade filling that she went on and on about at our table and made us feel pretty bad for not ordering the strawberry french toast stuffed. The food itself was ok. After waiting almost an hour for our meal, our table got scolded by what we thought was a sweet little old lady who kept sending our meals to a different table. we were freezing because the other half of the coffee shop was too warm to eat in. Definitely not coming here again, nor would I recommend this place to anyone coming hungry after a camping trip in the mountains.

We have eaten here multiple times and the food is very good but service is okay at best. However, I was there the same day that the other one star review from Chad was written. He is absolutely right. We waited two hours for our food. People may find this weird that we waited that long but it’s Newland and the options are very slim. I would have never written this review if I hadn’t saw this. While we waited, my 13 month old daughter couldn’t wait any longer for food so I took her to the car and gave her some snacks while my family kept waiting at the table. I let her play by the Methodist church and noticed that half the staff, all teenagers, were sitting at the back door on their phones and talking to one another. I was furious. Everyone in there we spoke to had waited well over an hour. It’s one thing to be short staffed but this was blatant disrespect.

Great atmosphere, great food, pricing not bad considering inflation for N.C.

4 stars because management needs to step in and get the wait staff some help. My meal was great. Kayla our server was attentive, but swamped because the wait staff were bussing their own tables and having to sit their own tables. There were more apologies for the wait then I’ve ever heard and it is because the front of the house was short staffed. A greeter who could sit, bus and set a table would help this business beyond belief. I would actually expect an owner on a holiday weekend to take the initiative to make sure this wasn’t a continual problem. Like I said the food was good. Kayla was awesome. CeCe was helpful.

We stumbled upon this cafe while vacationing in Newland. I love small town diners and cafes. The atmosphere and people just make it enjoyable. Cranberry Street was no exception. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was great. Overall, it was a nice experience and we'll definitely visit again on our next trip to town.

A rating of 3 may be a bit low but at least for our first visit it was appropriate. The waiter was new, the AC was freezing us for a while, and the 3 breakfast BLT sandwiches had thick tomato and avocado pieces as well as non-leafy romaine pieces. That made for a very awkward sandwich. On the plus side, my pattimelt sandwich was very good even if it was missing the egg from the breakfast version.

We went for the first time today and we were highly impressed! The food was fast, hot and absolutely delicious! The service was amazing and the prices are hard to beat! We will definitely be returning.

Very cute restaurant with a great menu. They were not very busy when we went in around 1 today. We waited about an hour and still no sign of our orders. Waitress said another 5 to 10 minutes, so we cancelled our order, paid for our drinks and left. Wish we had read the reviews about the long wait times before choosing this restaurant.

We waited for over an hour for hamburger steak and a BLT. I've never seen so many people get mad and leave a restaurant. The wait staff were wonderful and doing the best job of damage control possible. It's hard to please the customers when they can see the entire kitchen staff out back smoking.... This was my first trip to the cafe and I have heard good things about the food.

This is the second time we have eaten here. Had to wait a good bit for our food the first time, but thought we would try again. Waited over an hour after our order was taken. Waitress never came back, had to wave down someone to ask where our order was. Asked for cream for coffee and once again had to search for someone to get it 5 minutes later. The food wasn’t bad and I understand that it’s made fresh to order. But I didn’t think we would have to wait on the eggs to be laid and the grain to be milled. We ordered a BLT and the two egg breakfast. Extremely expensive for what you get. Spoke to others as we went out the door. One lady said her group had been there almost two hours. If you have a couple hours to waste and enjoy being frustrated this is the place for you. Definitely will not return here.
