Extremely friendly staff and casual, cozy atmosphere. I got the pulled pork platter with mac n cheese and apple bacon slaw.The pulled pork was good, with a generous portion for the price. The mac n cheese was fine but nothing stand-out about it. The apple bacon slaw tasted fresh and delicious--good balance of sweet, tangy, and savory.Lastly, the homemade Eastern NC vinegar sauce is fantastic. Sweet, spicy, and sour. The perfect thing to balance out some savory pulled pork.

This place is a real gem! When my family was driving through the area, this was the only restaurant that was even open. We sure are glad that it was. They have a nice, smallish menu with good variety and a little bit for everybody. They've got a great selection of homemade BBQ sauces. The restaurant is very clean, and it has a great atmosphere. I bet that this place really lights up during the busy season. The owner was there when we visited. It was a pleasure speaking to him and his lovely staff. I don't usually review places on here, but these guys definitely earned their five stars.

Food was great! Had fresh smoked BBQ, awesome smoked mac and cheese, and wings. He is working towards making his own ciders, so look forward to going back and trying it! I had a different local cider that was also great. If you like BBQ I recommend.

my family and i stopped in here for lunch and it was an incredibly pleasant surprise. the staff was great and the pulled pork was amazing, and they had a really cool selection of local BBQ sauces. the owner was very kind- gave us lots of recommendations what to do as we were on our way to Asheville, talked football with me for a little while too. when we do this drive again, we’re definitely making another stop

Probably the best food you'll find on the Blue Ridge Parkway, or just off of it! The smoked mac and cheese was super high-quality, and my double-stacked BLT was absolutely loaded with bacon. Super nice owners, Trish and Dean, make you feel right at home. And beautiful murals on the walls!

The Mountain Boomer is a must-stop if you are near lunch or supper time. We drove by and decided to turn in, and are thrilled that we did.The food is fantastic. The staff friendly. The facilities spotless.They have a set up for live music (5:30 on Fridays, and they've added some open mic nights as well) and they have a bar with a good craft beer selection.Will be stopping by again next time I'm in town.Dean was a pleasure to talk to as well.
