Excellent dinner with friends on a Sunday evening. Line wasn’t too long and starts forming half hour before opening. (Make sure your whole party is present) Jumbo shrimp on grilled pineapple was superb. The stone ground grits are delicious as a side. My sweetie had the chicken and broccoli Alfredo and it was delicious. Our side salads were nice and fresh. So glad we finally got to try this place.

Underwhelmed. Over priced for the food and service. The best part of our evening was the water boy. He was friendly, funny and our glasses were always full. I know everyone is doing their best but we all work hard to make money and when you go out and spend your hard earned money you expect better. With the food prices SO HIGH you would expect ALOT better. The staff was all very kind. I only had to ask for ranch dressing three times. They were out crab cakes, desserts and other menu items.

The night we were there, their bathrooms stopped working and they stopped seating people. We were already seated and waited for our meal for over an hour because they started offering takeout to the folks who weren't seated and I guess those took precedence. When we got our food, many of our mussels, oysters, and clams had not opened likely because they were rushing to cook them. The wait staff were great throughout though.

We were fortunate to get a table at 6:30 with no reservation. It was a clear, beautiful evening and the sky gave us spectacular color. Be sure to have the Seafood stew! Clam chowder on steroids! Fabulous! We also had grilled shrimp and crab stuff mushrooms. Everything was excellent. Friendly wait staff and perfect food. Will absolutely be back!!

Came here in a Friday shorty before sunset. No wait (but outdoor tables were full). They don’t take reservations. The place is right on the inter coastal waterway so lovely views at sunset. No nonsense hostess and effficient waitress. A little slow for the food to come but I’m sure it was due to being short staffed as most restaurants are now. The food was delicious and HUGE portions. The flounder platter had about 2lbs of fish - so fresh and fried perfectly. The salmon special also was a generous portion and delicious. The chicken and broccoli Alfredo also was enough for 2 meals. Prices weren’t bad - maybe a little high for the salmon at $33. But with such large portions we didn’t mind paying the price. Definitely will be back when we come back to OKI!

I don't eat seafood but the rest of my family does. I ordered a medium NY strip. I received a WELL done steak. I sent it back and the owner/chef sent it back to me and told me the "lighting" was off it's a perfect medium. There was NOT a bit of even pink in that steak. I was still charged for my meal and didn't eat it. $37.99 for water and grits. The waitress was wonderful and I'm terribly sorry she was the messenger.

We have been coming to Oak Island every summer for over 7 years, and the Fish House is one of the few things we ALWAYS ensure we hit up. There's nothing extravagant or mind-blowing, you won't have anyone coming to do tableside cocktail sauce, but the food is amazingly top notch. The dishes are well executed no matter what you order, with a flavor that is both simple but well managed. Balancing the unique flavors of individual items (looking at you, sweet and sour shrimp with grits), or somehow creating a symphony of seafood with the steam pots, everything is amazing. Word to the wise, though, this place is well regarded locally, and has a huge following. There isn't a downtime. Plan for the wait, and enjoy every moment.

The restaurant was a pleasant atmosphere. Although there was a wait upon our arrival at 5:45 (they open at 5), we were seated at a table in under the 45 minutes that were estimated to us. My sister and I got the seafood Alfredo, while our parents got seafood platters. The portions were huge and the shrimp tasted very fresh. One thing we were also very impressed with was the friendliness of the wait staff. We had at least three of them (to include our waitress) walk by the table multiple times and ask if we needed anything, which made it feel like we were right at home. It just seemed like there was a team environment with everyone helping one another, which was cool. Would recommend!

I’ve been to every restaurant in Oak Island and the Southport area. The Fish House is by far the best. Been coming here for years and it’s a great meal every time. The seafood is always fresh and the drinks strong . People who complain about the wait are just d*** and don’t appreciate waiting for a good meal. You may have to wait an hour but that should be expected and it’s part of the experience.
Food was great and service was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The most efficient and friendly dining room staff of any restaurant I have ever been to. A great overall experience!

Walked in and asked the bartender if this is where we order takeout and she yelled at me she couldn’t hear me. I repeated myself and she screamed at me it would be at least an hour and a half. I said, OK…no problem. She waved me off and went to get a drink order from another customer. She said something under her breath so we left. As we were leaving she made a comment to the folks at the bar and they started to clap and cheer. Probably the rudest experience I’ve ever had in my 52 years. I’ll never be back and I’ll tell everyone I know. We had three families ordering take out…probably $300 worth of business. Very sad.

Tenille is absolutely amazing! She is the best server ever! Out tea glasses never got even half empty before she was back with refills. She was on top of it all! The food is always amazing. My favorite is the fresh catch of the day the blackened Mahi Mahi. The bread is delicious too! The crab and cheese stuffed mushrooms appetizer is awesome!! If you come to oak island the one thing you have to do is eat at the fish house! Just get there around 430 to get in line because the place stays packed!
