Food was good, but staff seemed disorganized when we were there. We waited over an hour for a table, which is not unusual for a weekend. However, there were several tables that were empty that entire time because they were being held for a party of twenty that didn’t show up for over an hour. It was a little frustrating to see those tables go unused for over an hour when multiple parties could have been in and out during that time.
Staff was generally friendly but seemed overwhelmed. I’m wondering if they were understaffed or just poorly managed.

Let me preface this review by stating we visited Koko Cabana on Labor Day Sunday night for an early dinner. We waited over an hour for a table, then about 30 to 40 minutes for our appetizers to be brought out (soon after ordering it after arriving at the table). Our meal was brought to us about an hour after being seated. Interestingly, three large tables were being ‘held’ (which led to the long wait time). The waiter was attentive, though the staff seemed a bit understaffed and overwhelmed. The space was filled with patrons and very loud to the point we had difficulty hearing one another.

The food is great the service was spot on only issues we had were flies getting to us but honestly that's not their fault they did everything they could to help us out with that! (we ate outside, there were no flies inside so that's an option to avoid the flies) We had the peel and eat shrimp and the coconut shrimp tacos they were both fantastic. My toddler had the chips and queso and he absolutely loved that. I also had a fruity old fashion and it was delicious! All in all its a highly recommend for me!
Great little spot looking right down on the beach and up to the fishing pier at Oak Island! We both had scallops, one order broiled, the other fried. Both were wonderful! Fries and slaw were great as well. Wife had a specialty drink and loved it! I had a beer in a can (would have appreciated a frosted glass!). Overall, really nice setting with a polite and helpful waitress!

Might be fine with a smaller group but do not go if you have a bigger group. We were on a big family vacation (9 adults 2 babies) and they were not accommodating to us at all. The host and servers made us feel like we were inconveniencing them by being there. Food was fine, and our server was prompt with refills and getting our order out, but when we first got there, they were very reluctant to move tables and chairs (even though they were empty!) and one of the staff said “I’m going to have to see which waitress will want to take you because if I tell her, she’s going to be mad”
