Great place. Love the events and the atmosphere and most importantly the beer. My neighbors and I meet here regularly for food trucks, music etc.Would give it 5 stars except for the attitude of the young bartender. She is never pleasant nor says thanks for coming. Today she rolled her eyes at me when I asked a simple question. But don’t let that stop you. Hey! Maybe they can make that a thing like Dick’s Last Resort. Surly service Lol.

Makai Brewing Company truly stands out as a gem in the brewery scene. Their beer selection is outstanding, offering a perfect balance of classic and innovative flavors that cater to all palates. Each brew is crafted with care, resulting in a consistently great taste that keeps you coming back for more. The atmosphere at Makai Brewing is equally impressive, characterized by a warm and welcoming vibe. It's the kind of place where both newcomers and regulars feel right at home, thanks to the friendly staff and the cozy, inviting ambiance. Whether you're a beer aficionado or just looking for a pleasant spot to unwind, Makai Brewing Company is definitely worth a visit.

$12 flight...paid with a $20. Ordered a $6 10 oz. beer after that and my money was gone...just sayin'.Anyway, the Oyster Stout is actually a fascinating brew they made.

If you're a lover of fresh-brewed beer, stop in and try. My Kolsch was delicious. Plenty of seating inside and some tables outside.

Only had time for one beer, but it was great! The facility itself is spacious and has a fun vibe & our server was extremely pleasant!! Bonus…it was taco Tuesday and there was a food truck ? their food was delicious!

Finally stopped at Makai yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their beers. I sampled the blonde and amber ale and both were delicious. Highly recomment this brewery to others in the quest for exceptional microbrews! Brendan the bar keep was a nice guy and knowledgeable about microbreweries in the Coastal Carolinas. Thanks Makai.

NOTE: I am not a craft beer expert! So this is not a review of the beer, more of the vibe and overall experience.Lots of fun things to see and places to sit inside and out. Family friendly and very relaxed. The staff was quick to pick up on eye contact and help with anything we needed.Dogs! I love dogs and they are welcome here.. There were a few dogs while we were there and all were well behaved and their owners were letting us interact with them (after asking of course). To me the selection of beer was fairly thin, maybe consider bringing in beers from other local sources which I have seen at other local breweries. But then again, I am not a craft beer guy so if this comment is off base take the source into consideration! The beer prices were much higher than other places if you ask me.. $7 per draft is 1-2 bucks more than comparable places i’ve been to and this is not a high rent district.I am not sure if Makai is owned by the same people who own the deli next store (Butcher of Brunswick) or not, or if they are friends with them or what the relationship is. There is a strong “bring your food from next door and eat/drink here” feel. But they are missing a few things to make it all work. I looked around the bar for napkins and none were to be found, I asked for a napkin and the bartender went to the back and brought back paper towels from the bathroom dispenser… crazy right? Also, it would be SO NICE if they found a way to take orders for the deli from the bar.. not sure if they have the permits / etc. to make this happen but it would be very cool!

Spent an enjoyable afternoon here, playing backgammon. Picked up a great sandwich at the deli next door. I am not a beer drinker but my husband is. He enjoyed their Kolsch beer. They have a great selection of wines as well which I enjoyed. Music was great and not too loud. Service was friendly. Highly recommend.

I was very excited to have brewery near our new house in the Calabash area. I love craft beer and had enjoyed the Makai brews I have had locally at the restaurant scene so i was eager to stop by and check it out. Ive been there twice now with the same results and will not go back. Both times were Saturdays and the first time was extremely busy so when the bartender acted like she didn't want to fill my growler i figured i would give them another shot. I needed to stop by the butcher next door so i took my growler and grabbed a beer at the bar. Again, it was like i had leprosy and the two bartenders seemed to not want to wait on me. If its that big a deal to fill growlers, just don't do it. I left with my sealed growler and the next day when i went to get my pork shoulder on the smoker i opened it up and it was barely half full. Will never return...lowes fills them without the attitude.
