Yeah whoever put one star for this place was probably rude themselves. Like why we being rude to servers? Anyways, 2nd time here and it’s just as good, if not better, than the first. We got jerk chicken which is always perfectly cooked and came right off the bone, coconut shrimp, and the oxtail, which is to die for! We strongly recommend this place whenever you’re in the area!

The food and service was excellent. We had the beef patties and the ribs and they were all amazing. The ribs fell right off the bone. I would recommend checking sugar shack out when your in the area.

Sugar Shack Jamaican restaurant located in Ocean Isle, which can be a tourist area, which I think best represents this restaurant. The food was not great, as nothing stood out. The ribs had a lot of fat, the curried chicken was fair, and with them being out of Curry Goat even before they opened, I wasn't able to try it. Our server, who never introduced himself, who we found out later was George, was one of the most confused servers I've had in years. Didn't let is know any the specials, dropped food and had to get it re done, and just seemed disconnected. I personal can't recommend the place.

Do not go here! First we arrived with 22 people instead of our reservation of 25. We tried to call to let them know we had less people, but they did not open until five.The hostess was very rude and said they turned away people to seat our party. Did I mention we had to put down a deposit for the reservation? Honestly should've just left then. Then they had no chicken tenders for my son. They also serve no liquor. My other son was super excited to try their steak and we were the first party in the restaurant. After two people ordered steak they said they were out. We also wanted bread and they told us they were running low and could not give us any more. Honestly, I have been to countless restaurants in my life, and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. Everyone was just super rude especially the hostess. I talked to the owner about the disappointment with the chicken tenders and steak. She understood it was disappointing. The hostess exclaimed later that I needed to go. I have never posted A review on Google. This is my first time. That is how terrible it was. Again do not go!

We had an absolute nightmare of an experience at this restaurant. We had a party of 22 and were treated horribly from the moment we walked in. Beer was warm. Our server recommended the steaks and by the time the 5th person ordered, they ran out of steaks. Attached is a photo of the kids grilled cheese. Not only was the food subpar but the owner repeatedly rolled her eyes at us and made unprofessional comments. I would have loved to support this local small business but sadly they did not meet our expectations.
Best Jamaican restaurant in the area. The ribs are so tender and juicy. You can stick a fork through the bone. A must go and see for yourself

The ribs were incredibly tender and delicious, the shrimp was smoky and very good and the key lime pie was the best I have ever had. Even the food presentation was great. The server was a low htn white guy in his 20s with a long ramus.
