We had an amazing oyster rockafella here! It alone was almost enough to give 4 stars but the other menu items just didn't hit. Our entrees were fish specials that just didn't seem super special. Sure Okay... but for price I was expecting more. We arrived early on a Saturday...so service was good considering (our server seemed to pick up a bunch of tables in addition to our 8! top).

Back Porch offers a good selection of seafood and other dishes. We tried several but found the consistency to be hit and miss. The wagu burger, excellent with a toasted sesame bun. Shrimp and scallop pasta on the other hand was served cool in the sauce lacked a flavor punch. One in our party felt their dish was undersized for the price. On the island, service is a little slower, that's to be expected. But sadly our service didn't meet expectations. Drinks went empty, an order was incorrect (but quickly fix - thank you) and request for other items slow. We enjoyed the atmosphere and people were friendly. We'll give them another shot and hope they just had an off night.

The pecan encrusted Drum and bacon wrapped scallops were excellent. Have to eat here while on Ocracoke. Only bummer is that they close Sun-Tuesday and we only got to eat here once.

It was a fine atmosphere. Nothing great. Didn’t get served for 30 minutes. My drink took 20 more minutes to get to me after that. And it was an awful drink. This is all I’m a pretty empty restaurant. Then my steak was chewy and not worth the $42 market price. Will not be going again and this was my first time. Sucks

Ate here last night for dessert and you MUST get the sticky toffee pudding and the layered coconut cake! They are sinful and absolutely delicious! Do NOT GET the chocolate cherry cherry pie the texture is grainy and the bottom layer of the pie is so tough you cannot cut it or chew it up. Atmosphere was nice and friendly ! Would definitely come back !

Four stars instead of five due to they were completely out of any kind of bread. No garlic bread for spaghetti, no rolls, no table bread at all. Having said that, the Spanish mackerel, seasonal veggies (squash, green beans, and carrots), and jasmine rice we're delicious! We sat in the screened in area on the deck. Beautiful atmosphere. Our waitress was excellent. Coconut cake was so good! I loved the Russian blue cat that obviously lives there. He's good PR.
The hostess was vile, we left the establishment about 2 minutes after we arrived because the hostess was so incredibly rude. She is probably the most inhospitable hostess I have encountered in my 40 years of life. Terrible first impression of the place. We left and went to Howard’s.

We showed up 15 minutes before closing time, yet they were very welcoming and never rushed us. Our server was so gracious and kind to everyone, he really made us feel at home. We started with the okra & calamari appetizers, both delicious. Pictured is my sautéed fresh local shrimp plate (“full portion”, $26 today). Every bite was a fresh and flavorful delight, the perfect way to end a hot day on the island.

We are from Charleston SC which is known for their fine restaurants and dining experiences. We ate at Back Porch tonight and it was the best we have ever tasted! The service was impeccable and the food was fresh and prepared with perfection! Absolutely btje best food ever!
