Food was ok, thai shimp appetizer was delicious but you could tell the hot strimp sat on the cold slaw too long by time it hit the table.

Drinks were great, and server was super nice. Order was input incorrectly, then was charged full price for the wrong dish. Not what I would expect from a customer service perspective.

Will update the review next time we go, regardless, definitely worth checking out. I have a feeling by mediocre review will be updated 😎

Grilled sea scallops wrapped in a bacon chiffonade, lounging in lemon beurre blanc, with collards so tender they could gossip with grandma. The Flying Melon on Ocracoke Island didn’t just serve dinner, they served perfection on a plate. 🐚🥓🍋” ✨

Have always loved this place. If you can sit at the bar and be delighted by the stories you'll here about where the drinks on the menu come from. But truly the food is fantastic from the fine dining filet to the kids chicken tenders.

Cool atmosphere like an old house. Great fish. Tuna and Drum were awesome. Definitely go when on the island.

Absolutely phenomenal food, fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. As a vegetarian, I was especially impressed with the beet salad (I added extra goat cheese), which was incredibly flavorful. The peach panzanella was bursting with fresh summer flavors. Their desserts were perfectly balanced and not too sweet. We ate here twice during our vacation and will definitely be back the next time we visit Ocracoke.

I’d love to meet the chef! Fabulous food and presentation! Bar drinks were equally as delicious. Camille was our lovely, friendly, helpful waitress; loved her! We were seated upstairs and I did open our curtains by our table, as there was no natural light and it felt closed in. Unfortunately, the singer tonight from New Jersey, was mediocre. Despite that, I highly recommend a meal and a drink here!

Food was delicious. The owner/ bartender can be a bit rude to customers.

Recently visited the Flying Melon on a weekend trip to Ocracoke with dear friends. Turned out to be not so pleasant! We had a reservation, we thought for 6:30. When we arrived they informed us it was for 7:00. When we were finally seated and placed our orders, it was after 8 and no food! So said “enough” and asked for our orders to be cancelled. The manager (I think he was) came to talk to us. He was very condescending to us , as well as the table next to us, when they complained about their meal! He informed us that we would have to pay for the meal, even though we had not even seen it! When we were leaving, he threatened to call the police! We have never been treated so rudely. And this is a high dollar restaurant. If you go, we all pray you have a better experience!

We loved our meal and drinks. Great menu with fresh, local offerings.

We sat outside at the picnic tables so we could bring our dog. They let us order inside and eat outside from to go boxes. Full menu was available to us. The service was fantastic and everyone was so friendly.

We always make it to the Flying Melon when we visit so this time was no exception. Even though we walked in with a party of six with no notice, they accommodated us rather quickly. Not sure if this would happen on a busy evening. Adam was pleasant and attentive, the food is always delicious and fresh. Overall, another wonderful evening. $$$

Out of all the restaurants on the island, this was the rudest. I felt like I was back in NYC. They didn’t even acknowledge my existence. All I was trying to do was get a drink. Every other place on the island is with it! This was not!!!! Go somewhere else. It ruins the vibe of the island.

Five women with no problem laying out the bucks. The baked oysters and caper blue fish appetizers were spectacular. When we all decided on the scallops for the entre, we were all terribly disappointed. They were extra salty and flavor was not what a scallop should taste like. Scallops are usually sweet and succulent. Unfortunately our criticism was blown off. The cream brulee was like a soup and was also a big disappointment.Been here many times and this was a big fail!
