We caught the ferry over to Ocracoke from Hatteras, and biked into the village of Ocracoke. We were looking for some place to grab some food and a good brew, and Howard's Pub fit the bill. They have indoor seating, as well as an expansive side porch area with plenty of tables, and screened in so you can enjoy the breezes. Their food was pretty good. We had their seared terryaki tuna sandwich, as well as a pulled pork sandwich. The tuna sandwich was very good, and really enjoyed the creamy mustard sauce that they serve on the side with it. The pulled pork sandwich was more like a ground pork, as it did not have the usual pulled pork texture, but it was still good. Service was fine - but it was October (off-season), and not very busy. Will keep this in mind for the next time we are in Ocracoke.

Service was top notch. I will give it that. Everything else was not great.
The food was basic for the prices they had the audacity to charge. The drink prices are ridiculous. I understand “island prices”, but there are so many spots here that charge the same for a better product.
The atmosphere was your basic beach area “pub”. The only cool thing, I guess, was the college penants all around the place.
Other than that, I believe this place really takes advantage of the fact there are limited options and they are one of the “first” places you see for food in Ocracoke if you came from the north side.
Just look at the pictures. Either people really don’t know food, or the reviews are friends and family because half the food looks like it’s either AI, or made by a high school graduate going through their first semester of culinary school.
Honestly, if you value taste and price, don’t come here. You’re wasting your money for a meager experience.

Howard's is awesome! We take the ferry over from Hatteras Island whenever we visit. That ferry ride is now 75 minutes one way but it is well worth it to go to Howard's. We were there in April and again in early October. Warmly greeted when we walked in, we had our same server we had back in April who was also very welcoming.
My husband had a seafood platter and I had the crabcake sandwich. The crabcake was a little on the mild side for me, I like a little more oldbay seasoning. But it was obviously a homemade crabcake and delicious. My husband's seafood platter was very lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. The iced tea was fresh, strong and delicious.

The service here was great. Very friendly staff and it’s a fun atmosphere. The food was a little disappointing. The shrimp and crab dip was the best thing we had but overall the food was lacking in spices and flavor. Not a bad time but probably not one we come back too.

How can you mess up sweet tea? At least have waitresses tell people you loaded it with honey instead of letting the customer be shocked. I was so thirsty for sweet tea and it was horrible! I definitely wouldn't have ordered it.

This is one of those must visit places on Ocracoke, if you come with young kids, the kids meals come with a free frisbee. I think we have 6 of them now, but my kids still want to come every time we visit :)

Decent food, crazy prices. Keep in mind this is a tourist location, other than that, the food is decent, I did get nauseated after eating their mozzarella sticks though.

My friends and I had a fantastic time at this seafood restaurant/bar. The tuna bites were absolutely delicious—perfectly seared and seasoned. The fish of the day was fresh and flavorful. We had a choice between 3 fresh fish. The portion size was just right. I highly recommend the taco salad, which was satisfying with fresh toppings and a crispy shell.
The atmosphere was lively with a fun, laid-back vibe, which made for a great night out. Prices were reasonable for the quality, making it a good spot to enjoy seafood without breaking the bank. We’ll definitely be back!
