Very nice upbeat young lady took my order very sweet,got to talk to ppl whom live locally,very nice..Ordered 3 bbq sandwiches so good,a hot dog all the way,a fried flounder sandwich and 1/2 dozen hush puppies,.Everything was hot and fresh!!!so good.Will definitely be back &highly recommend.
This is our go to place every time we come home to NC. Always the same...always good. Both eat in and take away.

It definitely had more of a take out atmosphere to it, rather than a dine-in one. The menu didn't have a whole lot on it for smoked options. The only smoked meat option I saw was pulled pork, so no brisket, chicken or ribs which was kinda disappointing. I got the pulled pork plate which comes with a SINGLE hushpuppy which I've never seen just 1 given before and I got baked beans and coleslaw with it. The beans just felt like heated up plain beans, nothing special about them. Coleslaw was pretty good, but a little dry. The BBQ was pretty tasty, very moist and didn't need any BBQ sauce. I also got the catfish sandwich to try and that was fantastic. It was fried perfectly and very good. I'd definitely recommend the catfish. The service I had wasn't that great,it took forever to get my drink refilled the entire time I was there and it was not busy today.

Literally the worst food I’ve ever paid for. The grilled chicken sandwiches were like rubber tires with absolutely no flavor on a mushy roll. Nothing had and flavors. It was literally disgusting food. Unbelievable they call it
First time here. The parking lot was packed. I used the walk up window and was greeted immediately. I ordered the BBQ plate with collards and okra. Everything was delicious! I'll be back to enjoy the dine-in portion.

If you are looking for good bbq then this is your place. Allen and Sons is our go to for good NC vinegar bbq. The Mac and cheese is also not to be missed.
Nothing fancy, just good food, good people and good times. There is a reason it is considered one of the best in the south.

We got Allen & Son BBQ catered for our rehearsal dinner and absolutely enjoyed every part of it. The pulled pork was juicy and flavorful and the flounder was great. We got Mac and cheese (fantastic), fried okra, Cole slaw, and hush puppies for sides and all of them were tasty. The banana pudding was amazing and did not last long - probably because everyone got a few plates. Definitely recommend for any local catering as you cannot find a better example of NC bbq near by!
