Food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding. Perfect place for a special occasion. We shared the venison as main dish. Mushrooms & broccoli as extra sides. Compliments to the chef! The only suggestion I have is to indicate on the menu that you will need to select a side with your main course. Perfection! We will be back.

4 of us here for Saturday evening dining. Thought it would be nice to get away from Durham for a change. The food is good as was the feel of the place. The service does not come close to matching their very high prices. Too many choices in the Durham/Chapel Hill area so will not be back here.Dietary restrictions: I have celiac and am allergic to gluten. Server had no idea which dishes were appropriate for me.

Incredible!!! My Crispy Bass might have been the best plate I’ve ever had! My girls steak was outstanding. This place makes Fleming’s in Greensboro look like a McDonald’s. Pricey but worth

The chef/kitchen makes the restaurant! I never have encountered a restaurant with the level of service offered from the back of the house like this restaurant. On Wednesday nights the live jazz really makes this place one of the best in the area. Surely “worth the drive” The service from the front of the house is great also.I would recommend this place to anyone I know. It’s worth every dollar you’ll spend here and they seem to appreciate your business!I will be back time and time again.

I've been in Sycamore now 3 times. Last night for their Valentines special was the latest. Knowing that you're going to walk in the door and spend $135+ per person and they don't even have the bar open to be able to sit and order a drink before dinner is ridiculous. Same thing happened last time I just stopped in to have a drink at their bar, it was closed. Why have a nice upscale bar if it's never open? I would think if everyone there is spending $135+ per person that they could afford to have an additional bar tender there and have the bar open. The food is good but overpriced. It's nice to have an upper scale restaurant in Pittsboro but I will say that after 3 visits I will not be going back. Just not worth it when there's others close enough with much lower pricing that are just as good and you don't have to worry about parts of the restaurant being closed when you walk in. Very disappointing to say the least.

Fine dining in an unsuspecting location. Amazing experience from the warm welcome at the door, all the way through to dessert. I started with the mixed greens salad that has a lot going on in the flavor department, but everything pairs together so well. The apple cider and honey vinaigrette is subtle, not over powering. And the small pieces of apple add a nice sweet and sour surprise, along with the crunch of the candied walnuts. (I had their beef tatare before, too, and it is jam packed with flavor! And it comes with some really nice, buttery, soft toast. Their charcuterie board is noteworthy too. A great variety of cheeses, fruits, and meats) If you've never had ostrich, and you like steak, I cannot recommend it enough. There's no "gamey" flavor at at. Just fire cooked steak, and whatever glaze/sauce that comes with it goes so well with every bite. (I also had their 30 day dry aged ribeye before this, which is exceptional) I don't know what the chef does to the mashed potatoes, but they are incredible. There is a subtle sweetness, and almost a smokey kind of flavor to them. No salt or pepper necessary, and SO creamy! For dessert I had the olive oil cake, which they switch up the style all the time. This one had blood orange slices and reduction, with house made whip cream, and the cilantro paired so incredibly well. Not what I expected at all! The service is great, and they have a piano player in the main dining area, which is cool, and also a pool table in the lounge. I HIGHLY recommend giving this hidden gem a try if you're ever in the area.

I was visiting my mother from Florida and came here for dinner on a Saturday night. I got the New York strip rare. This was possibly the grossest cut of meat I've ever seen. It was cooked medium and i promise that was not NY strip. I honestly couldn't eat it. It was tough, overcooked, saturated in butter and full of veins. This was not a $51 cut of steak. I've had better steak at Applebee's. After complaining to our waitress about the steak. The manager came to our table 10 minutes later and said, "I heard you got a wonkey piece of steak?" Wonkey? It was almost as if this was normal. This is by far the worst steak i have ever had. I don't know what they're serving, but something is not right. I would never go there again. This is so far from fine dining. It's worse than Applebee's.

The Sycamore has been on our list for sometime and finally made it there to celebrate with the family after the holiday. The restaurant is warm and beautifully decorated and the staff match the vibe. Everyone we encountered (greeter, wait staff, supporting staff) were welcoming and friendly. Our table tried varied options from the menu. We started by splitting the Caesar Salad which was fresh and lightly dressed. We also tried the tartare which was a surprising burst of flavor, one of the best dishes of the night. It comes with three pieces of bread which just isn't enough to enjoy the tartare, our waiter gave us the option to order additional bread which was much needed. I would prefer not to be hit with another charge for additional bread but at least they are up front about it. For mains we had the ostrich, the lamb, the prime tenderloin and the rib steaks. Surprisingly for a steakhouse our absolute unanimous favorites were the ostrich and the lamb. Both were cooked to perfection, tender as could be, and filled with flavor. For sides we did mac n cheese and brussels sprouts. We preferred the brussels over the mac but have to call out the creamed spinach and barley that was paired with the lamb. We would get that as a side next time! Sycamore can be a splurge evening with expensive cuts or you can take it easier on the wallet with samplings from the lounge menu. Either way a fun evening that everyone greatly enjoyed and we will need to plan another visit in the future.

Terrible staff, cold food, ruined a very special dayWe drove an hour to Sycamore to celebrate my husband's birthday. We wanted it to be special, great experience and excellent food. I told our server that we especially drove there for his special day -- 1) she forgot to serve us any drinks, after asking twice she got our tasting glasses and then forgot to ask us again what we wanted to drink 2) after 20 mins of waiting she showed up -- and started taking our dinner order while she was yet to get us drinks, the appetizers were ordered, and 45 mins went by and she did not come to take our order, the food arrived super late and was cold. I was scared to order dessert to celebrate my husband's birthday - that would have taken another hour. It was one of the worst experiences for one that we expected to be one of the best. and it wasn't cheap! We wont be going back. They lost a customer that came with much love and excitement to celebrate a special day.
