Going back there brings back phone memories of 20 to 25 years ago when I used to frequent it those years ago. Back then, there were very few good eateries in Raleigh. 42nd street still has the old charm and the uniqueness that couldn't be lost. The staff and service is top-notch and will make you want to come back. The food was not as good as I remember, but still a great meal. I've been exposed to so much since those happy times, but so glad i had a chance to go back.

I went on my wedding night after a friend recommended it. I can’t say enough good things about it! The flavors in every single bite were perfection. It was so good and so much food that we literally spent time the next morning to get a cooler since we didn’t want to throw away our leftovers when leaving the hotel. Some of the best food I’ve had IN my life! Between us, we had the fried green tomatoes (RIDICULOUSLY good), salad, bacon wrapped scallops penne, and sea bass. I’m anxious the try the pie we were too full for last night!! The complementary hush puppies were also incredible. The waitress was so friendly and her suggestions were on point when we asked questions. 100% recommend. I truly believe we could not have picked a better restaurant!!!Parking: We were able to find a spot immediately upon arriving, but there were not a lot of empty spaces to my memory. They also had valet available for a fee.

This is usually pretty good but took some out of business acquaintances there 4/10 and food and service were both subpar. I had the oyster stew and it was not buttery of flavorful. The soup had little flavor and there was no half and half but tasted like low-fat milk. Not all our meals came out at the same time with at least 5 minutes between the first meals and the second group and then sides were 5 minutes later and finally my soup. There were only 5 in our party so this was not a big group. I only had water and my glass was never refilled even though it was half empty when the food came and empty before the table was cleared. I was disappointed and embarrassed. It will take a lot for me to return to this restaurant

The food is consistently good. The service is consistently good. I always order more than I can eat.

We went on a Wednesday night and had a party of 11 with our dinner club. We had 2 great servers, but the kitchen did not hold up their end. We ordered oyster as an appetizer and NEVER received them. This is an oyster bar and we were excited about eating oysters. We asked for hush puppies at least 3 times, we never received any. My husband ordered the shrimp and crab fettuccine, it had absolutely no flavor, very bland!! Also, there was no recognition of any crabmeat in the dish. I had the Shrimp Creole and it was average, nothing I would go back for. I know this is a longstanding establishment in Raleigh, NC, but that is not a reason to rest on your laurels and not give your best!

So American! Fish is fresh which is why we were here. Service was good but there were a lot of things they were out of which was disappointing. Calamari was fresh and nicely made and so was my blackened Mahi! Honestly, I liked the food here but was disappointed to hear a "No, not available" 20 minutes after placing an order.

Birthday celebration. Typically, I visited the oysters but went for a birthday celebration and got some different items. Pricey yep, delicious, no complaints. I could ding the calamari if being really picky. It had a little more chew then typical, but overall good. The oysters were on the small side, but that was noted on the menu before ordering. I had the ahi tuna, which was awesome. Nothing beats straight out the water, but this was made to perfection.
