Shrimp w/ Marinated Newly-Dug Potatoes & Pickled Ramp Remoulade - Roasted Airline Chicken Breast w/ Herb-Scented Whipped Yukons & Smoky Triple Chicken Jus - Macaroni Au Gratin (the best I’ve ever had, at least four unique cheeses. If you don’t order this Mac ‘n Cheese, that’s your fault!) From the moment we walked in, I knew we were in for something special. The rainbow “Don’t Forget Kindness” window etchings, the upscale modern yet retro decor, the attention to detail, and then learning the history, dating back to 1945 — it’s all so impeccable! Oh, and a fantastic cocktail. The 1806 — Orange Infused Bourbon, Brulee'd Brown Sugar, Bitters! Suffice it to say that I will make it a point to be back, often 🏳️‍🌈 Highly recommend!”

“The best gluten free pizza I’ve had in NC so far. I saved my crusts for a car snack but ended up not eating them in the car, I made garlic butter croutons with them when I got home. The gf crust is sooo good.
I really appreciated getting a full size pizza that two people can share, not those tiny baby elf gf pizzas most places give you. And the cuppy pepperoni! I will definitely be back soon.”

“I first tried Dampf BBQ many years ago when they were still out at the fairgrounds, and I can honestly say it has remained the best and most consistent barbecue I’ve had both in this state and across the country. I’ve traveled extensively during my military career, which has given me the chance to try some truly great barbecue spots nationwide. Even with all that experience, Dampf BBQ is still my number one. The meat is always incredibly tender, packed with flavor, and cooked with the kind of care you can taste in every bite. Beyond the food, the people here make the experience even better. This is a dedicated, family-owned, local business that clearly takes pride in what they do. I’ve seen comments about wait times and pricing, but in my opinion, anything truly good is worth waiting for, and anything made with real quality is worth paying for. I drive an hour just to get this barbecue, and I’ve never once been disappointed. It’s consistently excellent, every single time. If you’re on the fence… don’t be. It’s 100% worth the trip. Give it a shot.”

Ajja is the first to fall into this category – from Ambience, Staff, and Culinary Creations – the restaurant has now raised the bar, challenging local restaurants to really push the envelope. Over the past 20 years, I have traveled to more than 68 countries, 33 states, and six continents. Often, the restaurants that truly rank higher are those you least expect. Restaurants that are set in more "local" areas, peculiar places, or just not in the typical outside setting that you would think when thinking of 5-star or Michelin-level culinary experiences. Ajja is nestled in the heart of the Five Points residential area, across the street from old-style craftsman homes. Roasted oysters, agnolotti divine, NC fish perfect. Staff friendly and, well, just a special evening all together. We have only been twice, but were greeted like regulars.”

Shrimp cocktail was great- shrimp were a bit small but cooked well(one was a bit of a moody texture) and the sauces were delicious. Beef Wellington and bone in ribeye were cooked to perfection and delicious. Chocolate cake was amazing- the ice cream on the side paired perfectly with it. This was our second visit and we look forward to returning.”

“What an all around amazing night at Second Empire! Our family gathered there to celebrate our son's wedding. The personal service the bride and groom received was way beyond expectations. Everyone made them feel so special! From start to finish, the evening was exceptional. The food was so yummy and there were even options for those in our group, myself included, who were vegan/vegetarian. And it wasn't just a salad. Just ask the server! Ours was well versed in what the chef could prepare for us. The presentation of the food to our party of 13 was also super cool...they brought out all of the entrees at once! Also there is an elevator to help those with mobility issues. Thanks to everyone for helping to make this special day even more special!”

“What an INCREDIBLE experience. A friend and I stopped by while we were in town and we were greeted with incredible service off the bat. John Michael was a WONDERFUL bartender, very charismatic and knowledgeable. As soon as we sat down asked us what we like in a beer (we sat at the North Carolina bar) and he immediately grabbed samples for us to try, hitting the nail on the target for each of our differing pallets. The selection at this beer garden is clearly carefully crafted for a range of styles which for me was greatly appreciated! My friend loves beer, but it’s not always my favorite as I prefer ciders… however still most of the beers I tried were incredible. We also had the opportunity to talk with the Bar Manager for a short time who was extremely friendly and showed immense amount of care for this establishment and community. It was refreshing! The cherry on top was we decided last minute to get some food as we were heading to a concert and the chicken pesto pizza was out of this world!!! The flavors were amazing and the chicken was perfect. Overall, the atmosphere of this place was exactly what every beer garden should be. It had been a while since I have come across such a gem that hit the nail on the head for service, environment, and product all at once. We will DEFINITELY be back!”

“This was my first visit to the Raleigh location on May 28, 2025 with two out of town guests. three diff dishes were ordered..brisket, St. Louis rubbed ribs and burnt ends. The brisket and burnt ends were amazing. The ribs however were dry and tough. The meat certainly did not fall off the bone. I would not recommend the ribs based on this experience.”

“My daughter took me out on Mother's day. It was fabulous. Haven't been feeling well. Had cancer surgery and radiation so appetite has been really off. The whole experience from getting in the door greeting, drinks order ,food, service was awesome. I had the steak and red skin potatoes and just right zucchini and squash. Oh my goodness the squash was cooked just right I asked Nianna if she could insure that vegetables were cooked done but not mushy she insured the cook had done them just like I liked them they were on the money. “Sarge's sauce made my shrimp and grits easier and more flavorful than my usual recipe. I simply sauteed chopped onion, bell pepper and garlic, added Sarge's sauce and chicken broth, and then added the sauted shrimp. I plated it by putting it on top of my cooked grits and then topping it with a bit of chopped tomato. Yum!”

Well not today! ☺I asked the guy how long they'd be there, he said 12-3pm-told him I'd be back because I wanted my husband to have some too. I recommend arriving a bit early as there may be a short wait (reservations are not accepted), but there is bar seating available. Upon arrival, you can add your name to the waitlist, which is a nice touch. The restaurant is consistently busy, yet always well-maintained with clean facilities. The servers are knowledgeable about the menu and go the extra mile to ensure a welcoming experience. Whether dining with friends or adults, everyone can find something appetizing on the menu. Here is what we order on our most recent visit: Karage Wings $12 Pork Belly Buns (2) $9 Kids Miso Ramen with Chicken and Eggs Grilled Chicken Rice Bowl $12 The food was delicious overall, and I particularly enjoyed the wings and the pork belly bun. A tip to keep in mind: it's best to finish the wings while you're at the restaurant. If you have any leftovers and take them home, they don't reheat well.”

Yes, it's a resturant in a gas station ; which always tend to be the hidden gems (IYKYK). This place did not disappoint. The pulled pork sandwich was TOP NOTCH. Those hushpuppies on the side were soo good. All the sides looked sooo good; I struggled to decide on which ones to choose: mac n cheese was cheesy and dreamy, baked beans were packed with flavor, the slaw paired perfectly on the sandwhich, and the broccoli salad was also super delicious!! I wish I could of tried every side, next time I am back in the area, I will be coming back and trying more. The brisket on Thursdays, also sooo delicious 😋. Price point was great, I would easily pay more than I did for what I got and how tasty it was! For sure finish your meal off with the banana pudding 🤤 this place is a hidden gem, and Patty too! “What an INCREDIBLE experience. A friend and I stopped by while we were in town and we were greeted with incredible service off the bat. John Michael was a WONDERFUL bartender, very charismatic and knowledgeable. As soon as we sat down asked us what we like in a beer (we sat at the North Carolina bar) and he immediately grabbed samples for us to try, hitting the nail on the target for each of our differing pallets. The selection at this beer garden is clearly carefully crafted for a range of styles which for me was greatly appreciated! My friend loves beer, but it’s not always my favorite as I prefer ciders… however still most of the beers I tried were incredible. We also had the opportunity to talk with the Bar Manager for a short time who was extremely friendly and showed immense amount of care for this establishment and community. It was refreshing! The cherry on top was we decided last minute to get some food as we were heading to a concert and the chicken pesto pizza was out of this world!!! The flavors were amazing and the chicken was perfect. Overall, the atmosphere of this place was exactly what every beer garden should be. It had been a while since I have come across such a gem that hit the nail on the head for service, environment, and product all at once. We will DEFINITELY be back!”

I was hesitant yet excited about trying another “healthy” restaurant because typically the those kinds of restaurants lack in the flavor department, but THAT WAS NOT THE CASE HERE. I was gladly surprised by True Food Kitchen. First impression walking in was the restaurant was very clean, upscale yet approachable. The open kitchen was a huge plus, and the vibe was very pleasant. The waiter Trey deserves all the praise. He was very knowledgeable, kind, and timely. He honestly made the experience one of the best things about the restaurant. Obviously the star of course is the food here, it was fantastic. So good that I was considering ordering dinner to-go. We ordered the burger, pepperoni pizza, and chicken sandwich with the air fryer fries. The food was cooked to perfection and my family and I didn’t want to stop eating it because it was so good. Lastly, we ordered the famous chocolate flourless cake because we’ve heard that it’s incredible. And yes… it’s absolutely incredible. I will have dreams about this place and I’m so happy to have gone. I highly recommend it. I have a lot of food sensitivities and gut issues and I left feeling so good afterwards. Nothing better than eating, clean food that taste good.

“We finally went to Birdie’s yesterday after 2 previous attempts and the place did not disappoint. The drinks were fabulous! The food - Brussels, cauliflower, tuna, French dip sandwich and the salmon were all amazing. If you park in the garage across the street then don’t forget to get the ticket validated. We had reservations and there a few early hiccups with being seated in a timely manner. Shoutout to the staff - Alex, Tori and Kendra who were absolutely amazing! We will be back.”
