If you don’t order this Mac ‘n Cheese, that’s your fault!) From the moment we walked in, I knew we were in for something special. The rainbow “Don’t Forget Kindness” window etchings, the upscale modern yet retro decor, the attention to detail, and then learning the history, dating back to 1945 — it’s all so impeccable! Oh, and a fantastic cocktail. The 1806 — Orange Infused Bourbon, Brulee'd Brown Sugar, Bitters! Suffice it to say that I will make it a point to be back, often 🏳️‍🌈 Highly recommend!”

“The best gluten free pizza I’ve had in NC so far. I saved my crusts for a car snack but ended up not eating them in the car, I made garlic butter croutons with them when I got home. The gf crust is sooo good.
I really appreciated getting a full size pizza that two people can share, not those tiny baby elf gf pizzas most places give you. And the cuppy pepperoni! I will definitely be back soon.”

“I first tried Dampf BBQ many years ago when they were still out at the fairgrounds, and I can honestly say it has remained the best and most consistent barbecue I’ve had both in this state and across the country. I’ve traveled extensively during my military career, which has given me the chance to try some truly great barbecue spots nationwide. Even with all that experience, Dampf BBQ is still my number one. The meat is always incredibly tender, packed with flavor, and cooked with the kind of care you can taste in every bite. Beyond the food, the people here make the experience even better. This is a dedicated, family-owned, local business that clearly takes pride in what they do. I’ve seen comments about wait times and pricing, but in my opinion, anything truly good is worth waiting for, and anything made with real quality is worth paying for. I drive an hour just to get this barbecue, and I’ve never once been disappointed. It’s consistently excellent, every single time. If you’re on the fence… don’t be. It’s 100% worth the trip. Give it a shot.”

Ajja is the first to fall into this category – from Ambience, Staff, and Culinary Creations – the restaurant has now raised the bar, challenging local restaurants to really push the envelope. Over the past 20 years, I have traveled to more than 68 countries, 33 states, and six continents. Often, the restaurants that truly rank higher are those you least expect. Restaurants that are set in more "local" areas, peculiar places, or just not in the typical outside setting that you would think when thinking of 5-star or Michelin-level culinary experiences. Ajja is nestled in the heart of the Five Points residential area, across the street from old-style craftsman homes. “What an all around amazing night at Second Empire! Our family gathered there to celebrate our son's wedding. The personal service the bride and groom received was way beyond expectations. The food was so yummy and there were even options for those in our group, myself included, who were vegan/vegetarian. And it wasn't just a salad. Just ask the server! Ours was well versed in what the chef could prepare for us. The presentation of the food to our party of 13 was also super cool...they brought out all of the entrees at once! If you go to the local area craft bar, ask for Amaris, she is extremely helpful in choosing the right beer for your palate. She is definitely a super employee for this beer garden. Oh, and Dan is the MAN-ager, who will show you the swag available. Very good craft beer bar & grill.”

“This was my first visit to the Raleigh location on May 28, 2025 with two out of town guests. three diff dishes were ordered..brisket, St. Louis rubbed ribs and burnt ends. The brisket and burnt ends were amazing. The ribs however were dry and tough. The meat certainly did not fall off the bone. I would not recommend the ribs based on this experience.”

“Sarge's sauce made my shrimp and grits easier and more flavorful than my usual recipe. I simply sauteed chopped onion, bell pepper and garlic, added Sarge's sauce and chicken broth, and then added the sauted shrimp. I plated it by putting it on top of my cooked grits and then topping it with a bit of chopped tomato. Yum!”

Kea, Sonny, Yasmine, Amanda, Treyshawn, Ann, Queen etc all amazing servers… The cooks are on another level also, eggs and steak always cook perfectly…. The team just flows and serves all tables and even Togo orders so efficiently.. This is because of the their top tier Store director Domo!!!! I have watched him for 10 plus years mold and keep this team running on an untouchable level…… 20 stars”

Upon arrival, you can add your name to the waitlist, which is a nice touch. The restaurant is consistently busy, yet always well-maintained with clean facilities. The servers are knowledgeable about the menu and go the extra mile to ensure a welcoming experience. Whether dining with friends or adults, everyone can find something appetizing on the menu. Here is what we order on our most recent visit: Karage Wings $12 Pork Belly Buns (2) $9 Kids Miso Ramen with Chicken and Eggs Grilled Chicken Rice Bowl $12 The food was delicious overall, and I particularly enjoyed the wings and the pork belly bun. A tip to keep in mind: it's best to finish the wings while you're at the restaurant. If you have any leftovers and take them home, they don't reheat well.”

“We visit Raleigh from Texas several times a year but this was our first time eating upstairs of the Angus Barn in the Turkey Lounge. A more Intimate vibe with lots of locals. Our bartender, David, was a great host. Excellent cocktails, knowledgeable about the menu, extensive wine list and he steered us to the perfect bottle, yummy homemade pecan pie and a superb espresso martini. I’m picky but I have no complaints from start to finish. A fabulous evening. One of these days I’ll make it to a titanic dinner.”

“Bad Daddy’s catering was an absolute success for our company picnic (70 guests)! The food was exceptional—the burgers had an incredible chargrill flavor, the toppings were cooked to perfection, the buns were soft and toasted, and the salad was chopped and dressed just right. The tots were seasoned well, and the chips paired with the variety of sauce options were a massive hit.

The catering trays were easy to transport, and the food stayed warm. Everything was clearly labeled, and they provided all the necessary tools and cutlery for a seamless event. The pricing was very reasonable, and the staff was helpful—they communicated clearly and went above and beyond to help us execute a great lunch.

“If you’re looking for great Italian food in Raleigh, Pierro’s Italian Bistro is definitely worth trying. The atmosphere is really nice and the service was excellent. I ordered the risotto and it was incredible. I’m very particular about tiramisu, and this one definitely passed the test. We also tried a chocolate dessert and the beignets and they were so good. Everything we had was delicious. It was a really great experience overall. It’s clear they really care about the food and the experience. We will definitely be back.”

“I come here about once a month for lunch with a friend. We used to bounce around to different restaurants, but we have found this one to be so excellent that it has become our standard. The food is superb and very creative. They make a hamburger with feta cheese and blueberries that is a fun just for the experience. I normally get the wings; I’ve tried them in a number of sauces. Each is very distinct. I’ve ended up enjoying the Korean most of all. The side items are perfectly prepared, and the tater tots are extra crispy… just saying.
Service is top-notch. The only wait involve is for your food to be freshly prepared, hot, and that’s well worth it. Drinks are brought to the table quickly and with a smile.

“I’ve been here before and the service before was 5 star and 5 star food - would recommend to everyone. This time, unfortunately, was very disappointing and they must have really just had an off night - we came for a special birthday and they didn’t have MANY of the side items (no fries, no sweet potato cups, no carrots, no butternut squash soup, etc) and service was ok. Our birthday boy had to wait at least an extra 10-15 minutes to receive his burger after they got the order wrong - we all wanted to wait for him and most of our food got a little cold. The broccoli he ordered was very undercooked (he said it was raw, but it was just slightly steamed). Never refilled the tea drinks - not sure if it was free refills, but it would have been nice to ask. They also didn’t have two of the desserts we wanted to get, either! (No chocolate cake or peach & raspberry crumble. I’ll probably be back but was very disappointed this time - if it was my first time I might not would have wanted to come back. Luckily, I’ll give them another chance since I’ve had such great service and food in the past.”
