5 Best Dive Bars near Raleigh

The Goat Bar • $$
5111 Western Blvd, Raleigh

“Fun dive bar with all walks of life hanging out. Nice selection of alcohol for drinks. Friendly fun staff! Dont wear your best outfits as, unfortunately, some of the local frat guys get a little sloppy. Last visit more than 3 drinks were dumped on me and a friend. (Hint, tighten up guys, offer a drink to those ya covered in yours and let's all just hang out and have fun. Stuff happens but be aware and polite about it)“

“I love that there is indoor and outdoor seating here. A couple of friends introduced me to the wonderful world of Ruckus last year and I can honestly say I haven't had anything I didn't like. I recently tried the mozzarella sticks and they are delicious. The staff is always friendly, quick to serve, and honest about wait times. If they tell you that your food will take 20 minutes, it'll take 20 minutes or less. You won't be told 20 minutes and then end up waiting an hour. I love Ruckus and look forward to all the visits and delicious food in my future!Parking: Ruckus is part of a shopping center. Parking is available for all businesses. I have been quite a few times at various times (from lunch to late night) and I've never had a problem finding a parking spot.“

Slims Raleigh Bar • $
227 S Wilmington St, Raleigh

“I hate using the word “dive” for a bar like Slims. Yes it’s dark. Yes it looks a little run down. No you’re not likely to see too many lawyers in suits and you’re not going to get any craft cocktails here. But what you do get is friendly service with generous pours of quality well liquors at very good prices. And sometimes you get live music in very intimate settings. I’m a fan.“

The Avenue Raleigh Bar • $$
3 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh

“Had a welcoming party for incoming guest to my daughter's wedding. Served appetizers and had a nice area for our clan. Eric was great. Food was warm and there was plenty. Eric was available for anything I needed. Atmosphere was fun. Our clan danced and sang to the music. I would host more gatherings here if I lived close by.“
