Ajja is the first to fall into this category – from Ambience, Staff, and Culinary Creations – the restaurant has now raised the bar, challenging local restaurants to really push the envelope. Over the past 20 years, I have traveled to more than 68 countries, 33 states, and six continents. Often, the restaurants that truly rank higher are those you least expect. Restaurants that are set in more "local" areas, peculiar places, or just not in the typical outside setting that you would think when thinking of 5-star or Michelin-level culinary experiences. Ajja is nestled in the heart of the Five Points residential area, across the street from old-style craftsman homes. Walking up to the restaurant it presents an inviting local vibe, welcoming friends, family, and couples to come together in an environment where you feel free to talk, laugh, and enjoy the company you're with. The service was on point. The waitress brought excitement, personality, positive energy, and knowledge that allowed us to enjoy the overall experience with our family truly. We started with some of their curated cocktails, followed by a series of amazing dishes, including the Trout Dip, Ajja Mezze Platter, Sweet Potato & Peanut Masabacha, Charred Cabbage and Broccoli, BBQ'd Short Ribs, and the Whole Fried Trout. Rather than going dish by dish – my broad overview is that Ajja has taken some classic foods and really pushed the envelope with flavors and ingredients that create a culinary journey in your mouth that goes beyond amazing. “This place is spectacular! We ended up here by chance because the nazi owner of the Falls of Neuse Chik fil a down the street wouldn't let us walk 15 feet to a table without masks on. Let me be clear when I say that we are done with that mask game. We will not patronize a business that requires masks. Period! My money will be spent elsewhere. My wife stumbled upon Taza Grille and when we went to check it out, we found wonderful people running it. People like us. People that have common sense. Sam the owner will treat you like family from the moment you walk in. Sam's right hand man and his wife also were awesome! I had a lamb gyro with fries and hummus. It was seasoned perfectly! One of the best, if not the best gyro I've ever had. Please patronize businesses like Sam's. Make the businesses that are using cruel and unnecessary restrictions hurt financially. “We booked Neomonde to cater our wedding reception. From the very beginning, Neomonde made us feel welcome and valued. Saida was generous during the initial meeting and let us try many different options for food. We especially loved the Pomegranate Salad, Chicken Kabobs, and Mjadarah. At times, it was difficult to get in contact with the catering team, and there were some miscommunications during the contract process on what was included and what was not included. We were originally under the impression that plates, dinnerware, napkins, drinks, and cups would all be provided by Neomonde, but this was missed during the contract process. This resulted in a surprise during our wedding reception when our day-of-coordinator realized we didn’t have dinner plates or dinnerware. Neomonde was very adaptable though, and sent someone to bring plates and dinnerware immediately. Neomonde ended up bringing a third team member free of charge, but we didn’t have enough tips for a third server, and would have liked to know beforehand. The service through the entire wedding reception was stellar, and everyone thought the food was delicious! Our drinks were kept stocked throughout the whole event, cake was cut and served efficiently, and tables were cleared and taken care of. They boxed up all of the remaining food for our friends and family to take home, and cleaned the kitchen. We love Neomonde, and were ultimately very happy with the food!“

“A little piece of Europe in the center of Raleigh. Beautifully decorated with a Sunday Brunch that cater to any group. I noticed a party on the patio that had a spacious area for their guests. A number of different seating areas can give you the exact experience you will want to repeat. Service was a bit slower than usual but the food is great! Bring your friends or family and enjoy a unique experience.“

“Food was good, although temperature was a bit too cold. They were closing in a half hour and didn't have gyro on roller. Gyro was already cut they weren't keeping it hot enough within the steam table.....thus loosing a star. Baklava was good but used to be better. It used to be my favorite baklava anywhere. I believe they used to get it from Chapel Hill if I remember correctly. Been hitting both Hillsborough locations for many years when in Raleigh.“

“As always, everything that I have gotten at Aladdins has been fresh and deliscious. They have always had the best iced tea until a few evenings ago. Pick up a togo order and 2 teas. The tea had an very off taste to it like it was old tea. While I have had that in may restaurants, mostly fast food places, not once has it happened at Aladdins. Always the best.“

“I usually don’t eat out on weekdays, but today I had a LONG ONE and needed something quick and nourishing. Luckily, they were about to close and cooked me a delicious vegetarian meal of freshly fried falafel with yummy hot fries. “Had a great experience at GRK Yeero! My sister and I stopped by around 3am, and we were honestly surprised they were open, but we’re so glad they were. The food was super fresh and incredibly flavorful. The steak and chicken kebabs were amazing, and the veggie sampler did not disappoint. Their Greek salad was fantastic, and the tabbouleh was incredible!

The woman working there was so kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better.

“Ordered the traditional gyro. Pita was soft. Lettuce tomatoes and taziki sauce were good. Meat looked like it was in preformed shapes, not sliced fresh off the rotating hunk of meat that other gyro places have. The meat slices had grill marks on them and tasted like they had artificial smoke added. I was burping it up for hours afterwards.“

“I tried Checkers Pizza the other night and honestly, I was impressed. The pizza came out hot, fresh, and loaded with toppings. The crust had a good balance—crispy on the outside but still soft inside. I got a pepperoni and a veggie, and both were flavorful without being too greasy. The staff was friendly and made sure everything was ready on time, which I appreciated since I did a pickup order. Prices are pretty reasonable too, especially for the size of the pies. The only thing I’d say is the wait time was a little longer than expected, but it was worth it once I tasted the food. Definitely planning to go back again.“
