“The staff (I worked with Sean) was incredibly professional and helpful and truly helped make my husband’s 40th birthday celebration special. The private room was the perfect size for our group of 25, and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything from start to finish was seamless. This is a great spot for a date night or for hosting a celebration! I would definitely recommend it.“

“Had a great dinner here. Extensive drink menu with something for everyone. Eclectic menu that hits many different genres and somehow gets them all right! Very flavorful and well spiced food- the only exception was the Parmesan truffle fries. They really need some kind of dipping sauce or something on the side of those. I believe there was not enough Parmesan on them, because they were quite bland. Would definitely benefit from a dipping sauce. We put the dipping sauce from the Brussels sprouts appetizer onto them and that helped a lot. The Gardein option is amazing for vegan and vegetarians!“

“My friend and I ordered and enjoyed a lot of food: - Pimento Cheese w/ Fried Saltines - Roasted Beets w/ Pickled Kumquat, Siano Burrata & White Balsamic-Thyme Vinaigrette - Baguette w/ Cultured Salted Butter - Crispy N.C. Shrimp w/ Marinated Newly-Dug Potatoes & Pickled Ramp Remoulade - Roasted Airline Chicken Breast w/ Herb-Scented Whipped Yukons & Smoky Triple Chicken Jus - Macaroni Au Gratin (the best I’ve ever had, at least four unique cheeses. If you don’t order this Mac ‘n Cheese, that’s your fault!) From the moment we walked in, I knew we were in for something special. The rainbow “Don’t Forget Kindness” window etchings, the upscale modern yet retro decor, the attention to detail, and then learning the history, dating back to 1945 — it’s all so impeccable! Oh, and a fantastic cocktail. The 1806 — Orange Infused Bourbon, Brulee'd Brown Sugar, Bitters! Suffice it to say that I will make it a point to be back, often 🏳️‍🌈 Highly recommend!“

“Christmas Eve dinner 2025. Everything delicious. Counter seating, so entertaining watching the pace and positive attitudes of those working the line. Roasted oysters, agnolotti divine, NC fish perfect. Staff friendly and, well, just a special evening all together. We have only been twice, but were greeted like regulars.“

“What an all around amazing night at Second Empire! Our family gathered there to celebrate our son's wedding. The personal service the bride and groom received was way beyond expectations. Everyone made them feel so special! From start to finish, the evening was exceptional. The food was so yummy and there were even options for those in our group, myself included, who were vegan/vegetarian. And it wasn't just a salad. Just ask the server! Ours was well versed in what the chef could prepare for us. The presentation of the food to our party of 13 was also super cool...they brought out all of the entrees at once! Also there is an elevator to help those with mobility issues. Thanks to everyone for helping to make this special day even more special!“

“Excellent service and food quality! We had cocktails and a light appetizer while waiting for a table. Then once seated, the two of us ordered: three small plates, one large plate, and a dessert all to share. The timing was perfect. Each item came out separately, with an appropriate pause in between. We were not rushed or overwhelmed. Staff was very attentive without ever being anywhere close to overbearing.“

“Went to Crawford & Sons for dinner tonight. I have not been here since before Covid. I was enticed by their online menu which included hamachi crudo. It was amazing. The mushroom appetizer special was perfect for solo dining. The sauce / gravy on the mushroom special was very delicious and savory. The two very lightly fried eggs made this an exquisite brunch menu item.“

Oak has quickly become a frequent date night spot for us and will be for years to come. The food is always amazing and John our waiter (as well as the entire staff) has always treated us like family.“

“Excellent wine bar and restaurant in the Village District. The bruschetta board is a must. you get to pick multiple flavors and they're all incredible. Great wine selection by the glass at very reasonable prices. The patio is beautiful and perfect for afternoon drinks. The space is bright and inviting. Perfect for a casual lunch or happy hour with friends. The $5 pitchers of wine during happy hour are an insane deal.“

“Very nice dining experience for lunch Saturday commencing with the guidance of Chloe as the server. Truly enjoyed the Shanghai flash fried calamari as appetizer. Had to convince myself to not finish the whole plate because the entree was on order. Calamari was the winner, spicy, hot and just the right amount of chewy. Ordered the beet salad which was good- perhaps a better quality of dressing would be my comment. The cheeseburger and fries were good. Cooked the way I liked it. Chloe made it all for a good afternoon.“

Poutine: brown sauce is delicious, fries are beautiful and dainty and crispy. Cheese curds are slightly lacking in squeak, but the whole thing is broiled so at least they’re melty.

Cilantro chicken: alarmingly green, just as tasty. Well-cooked breast, cilantro sauce tastes great. Avocado salad is actually freshly-made guacamole with a heavy dose of jalapeño.

Plenty of large tables with benches to comfortably seat up to 9 people.“

“So relaxing!! And delicious!! We patronized the Flask & Beaker restaurant on there ground floor of The State View when we stayed in Raleigh recently. The service was incredible (shout out to Valerie) and the food was hot and delicious. We opted for the side Cesar salad instead of the fries that came with our sandwiches and they were fresh and tasty.
Since it was a lovely evening we decided to sit outside and take in the view that overlooked Johnson Lake. The grounds of The State View are meticulously kept and we enjoyed some after dinner drinks while we watched the sunset over the lake. The whole experience was wonderful.“

“We decided to pop in Good Day Good Night for an after dinner drink. There were 5 of us. We each ordered 1 drink and one person ordered dessert. Her coffee finally arrived, after she finished her dessert. The rest of us had to wait over 30min for our drink. I ordered a White Russian. It was so iced down, the ice had melted and the drink just watery whatever. Our server just acted like we were bothering him, each time we asked about the status of our drink order. My drink was the only mixed drink. The others were a shot of bourbon, and 3 decafs (the coffee was already made) Next time we want to stop somewhere for an after dinner drink, it won't be here.“

I got the meat and cheese board, so delicious 😋, maybe ask for details and get more of what you prefer. Beautiful view. Worth it! Very sweet service as well. They bring water and ask what else we would like as we wait. Sunset view you must see! The hotel staff was polite and helpful, go to front desk they will instruct to go to elevator to the 10th floor, the restaurant is right off the elevator. Very easy to find.“
