After seeing so many five star reviews and seeing them pop up on Tik Tok, I figured it was finally time to try them. Very disappointed with everything I ordered. Chicken was bland, the vegetable rice was too salty, the chocolate samosas tasted like they were fried numerous times and the mulligatawny was just soo watery and salty.

Basil Indian Cuisine offers a delightful dining experience with a warm and inviting ambiance. The service was attentive and friendly, making the meal even more enjoyable.
The Tandoori dishes are the standout here—perfectly marinated, well-seasoned, and cooked to juicy perfection. If you visit, I highly recommend trying them! The rest of the menu offers a good variety of Indian dishes, and while the flavors were enjoyable, some items didn’t quite reach the "excellent" mark.
For dessert, we ordered the Trio Kulfi (Mango, Paan, and Pistachio). The mango and paan flavors were delicious, rich, and creamy, but the pistachio flavor was a letdown—it lacked the authentic nutty taste and felt artificial.
Overall, Basil is a great spot for Indian food in Raleigh, especially for those who love tandoori dishes. A few minor improvements could elevate the experience to a solid five stars, but it’s definitely worth a visit!

The food here is absolutely delightful, with rich flavors and a well-balanced taste that leaves a lasting impression. Every dish is crafted with care, ensuring a perfect blend of spices, textures, and aromas. One standout dish that you must try is the Paneer Methi Malai.

We stopped in for dinner after a movie. The service was good, though understaffed. Please take the recommendations of level of heat from the staff. The lamb chops were just a little overcooked but still edible.

Ordered the meat appetizer sampler. It was so small yet costs 16.00 and a soda is 4.00! The rice for two isn’t nearly enough and it’s of course more money for more rice. The sauces are elementary and repeated with multiple dishes.
The chutney condiment platter for 7.00 was truly abysmal.
The good side, the papadum bread is fantastic and the number of pieces is very generous. The garlic naan is honestly the best I’ve ever had anywhere. So, hats off to them for that.
My roommate loved his meal of kadai and the samosas were very good and traditional and fresh.
Nice, clean and sleek dining room and very kind staff.
I’d give them another chance for sure.

We had a nice meal here. The food was high quality and we finished what we ordered and ordered more. The service was great, very attentive. We tried the pani puri, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, Punjabi chole, paneer mikhani, assorted breads and onion kulcha. Their naan was fluffy and really good. My only reason for 4 not 5 star was that the portions were fairly small for the price. Overall good food and experience.
Vegetarian options: As with most Indian restaurants, their were plenty of vegetarian dishes

Had worst biryani of my life here. Ordered 1 Goat and 1 chicken biryani. both were more of Tawa pulaos than biryani. too much gravy and too sour. Not sure about other items but dont order biryani if you were looking for authentic biryani. Ambience akd service is good.

This review is for their delivery. I ordered a few times before and everything was great. But this last time I had a problem. If you are going to charge someone $4 for a coke, which is ridiculous, make sure it is in their order. To be clear, a Coke is worth about $2. If you are going to charge a 100% premium on top of that I expect that premium to be for NOT FORGETTING THE COKE. I was getting delivery once a week but I think I am done for now.
I have had their Chicken Curry, their Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Vindaloo and their Butter Chicken. All were very good. The $45 minimum order for delivery was annoying but bearable, but not with this sloppiness. You pay a huge premium for delivery and I expect it to be accurate.

food is fantastic, great drinks and super friendly service! i love this place!
We ordered take out here due to the high reviews, but the quality of the sauces and recipes are a huge let down relative to the 4.8 star rating. There is better Indian food to be had at many places in the Triangle area. Our chicken vindaloo only contained chicken (no potatoes or other vegetables) and the sauce was super thin and watered down, lacking the rich complexity you'll find at competitors. Tika Masala was a similar instance and very american-ized. The garlic naan was extremely fresh and delicious.
